I personally believe that a word that needs more recognition is mugwump. For those who do not know, a mugwump is " A person who acts independently or remains neutral, especially in politics." [www.thefreedictionary.com]. Wonderful word, love putting it in correspondence when people attempt...

I would say the next one thousand years. The level of society that we have reached appears to be plateauing and I think a fall within the next one thousand years is likely. I would say no, as for flight sims I use a Joystick (for military sims) and used to use a yoke and pedals (for civvy sims [read as- sitting in front of autopilot as you potter across the atlantic]).
