Building home file-server... What software?

Hi guys. I just got my hands on a low-end computer, and thought that it might be cool with a home file server. I found this doing a quick search this image with a complete guide: http://picasaweb.google.dk/lh/photo/iGY8DzaGsw4M-LmSXuQCzA?feat=directlink link: http://picasaweb.google.dk/lh/photo/iGY8...

Complete HDD erasing

Hey guys, i'm going to buy a new computer, so i want to erase everything from my old 80 gb HDD... its unusable these days with that little amount of space  I read somewhere that some scientist claimed that 45 times of overwriting would kill any trace. So that's what I want, maybe more. I found...

Just wondering, is there any scouts on this forum?

We're (yes, I am one) 38,5 million on a global scale, so that means that there should be a possibility that I'm not alone?

Shirt Mockup - Show XKCD your skills!

hi there. I just stumbled upon a thread of shirt-mockups another place on the interwebs, and thought it would be cool to have it here too. I like to see what you guys can do! I made this one a while ago: (after many random-pedo-bear-general-meme-filled-shirts) http://lh3.ggpht.com/_4GvnUspKvGU/S-hiW...

F.lux - Night light mode your monitor!

This has been posted deep inside some few threads, but its a greeeaaat piece of code, which change the brightness of your display between day and night. At first it may seem a bit of waste, and you will find the colours in the night light annoying, but after few nights you will not only get used to ...

The kilo watt was cheaper than the 650 watt Corssair.

And if i'm thinking about building this by myself, is their any other mainboard you will recommend?

Re: Computer temps

if your friends talk about RPM only, then you should teach them about CFM. if a fan has low profile blades and a very high rpm, then the CFM might be lower and Db higer than a lower RPM fan with higer profile blades and lower Db. Yeah, i discussed it with them, but i was outnumbered... They also th...

speccy has some temp readings http://www.piriform.com/speccy FOR THE FAN ISSUE: i like to compare between CFM to db ratio the higher CFM to the lowest decibels possible. CFM = cubic feet per minute, how much air is pushed through in one minute db/ decibels = how loud your fan will scream while it i...

Want a new tower. What mainboard?

Hi Guys. I found a nice shop in my country, which build a PC of your own choice (With the limitation of the hardware they are selling) for a better price than getting the hardware separated, I checked it! So I decided to get an AMD phenom2 quard 965 (the 3.4 GHz) which seems to be just like the i7 i...

Hey guys. There's a new forum "____.com" which is growing. The special about it is that it's a command line inspired forum, everything has to be done the command way. It works great actually. The reason that i write about it here is not to spread the word around the internet and make a lot...
