Re: 한국어 연습 (Korean Practice)

아. 대한민국 국민으로써 국어를 기본적으로 알아야하는데... 이 사실이 너무나 부끄럽습니다. ㅠ ㅡ ㅠ One of the big problems that most people have with the language (and mostly other East Asian Language for that matter) is that there are different set of vocabulary for use with elders or someone who is in a higher position than you. For exam...

Re: 한국어 연습 (Korean Practice)

It is letter based but most of the words are descended from Chinese characters. The problem is that most of the words are Korean pronunciations of Chinese characters (Hangeul was used since the 15th century. Chinese characters were used a long time before then). Since Korean is a letter-based writin...

한국어 연습 (Korean Practice)

I'm wondering if there is anybody who knows how to speak in Korean. I'm not sure if that many people know it compared to other languages but I think this is a good opportunity for people to practice it. In my opinion, one of the hardest part of the language (and any other East Asian language for tha...

Re: U.S. to build new Nuclear Reactors

Ah nuclear energy. One of the most efficient and yet the one of the most misunderstood sources of power.
By the way, does anyone know what type of reactor will be built?

Re: Pencils!

I personally use a 0.5 mechanical pencil (wooden pencils lose their lead easily and I don't have a sharpener with me) that has a padded grip.
The pencil that I use has it's screw-off tip made out of solid aluminum. I only use that type of pencil because I like the weighted feeling it gives.

How early do teachers usually make their lesson plans? Also, how long are the lesson plans themselves?

Re: "Tensile vs. Shear Strength" Discussion

For some reason I am not shocked that the elevator was cut. What I'm worried about is that who is going to clean up the 80km of cable that is connected to the counterweight moving at rotational speed. Which we all know it's going to inevitably cause tremendous damage.

Re: Ask an English teacher!

Hi. Do you mostly focus on writing and grammar or do you focus more on literary discussion and the like. Also how do you usually asses your students' performance? Do you give out essays and assignments that give students the ability write their own opinions and grade them according to how well they ...

Re: Awesome Teacher Quotes

My 8th grade science teacher during a lecture on recessive and dominant genes: Teacher: "So let's say that you have blue eyes but your mother and your father both have brown eyes. There are two explanations for this. You were either picked up off the street when you were a baby or both of your ...

Re: Development of poor countries

Wasn't the major factor in Japan's economic growth due to the outbreak of the Korean War during the 1950's? The troops on the battlefield would of course need supplies and the nearest friendly country is Japan. It would take too much time to produce and send supplies from the U.S. mainland. Could so...
