i just wanna wish everyone a merry Christmas and happy new year. please stay safe and warm! :D side note: as a non religious person, i think Christmas has less to do with a really old and really dead Jewish guy and more to do with togetherness with friends and loved ones! oh.... and wads of materia...

I used desktop environments until late 2010, when I started using tiling WMs. I started with awesome, and ended up at ratpoison. I also use twm as a floating WM.

The first xkcd comic I can remember seeing is "Going West" (489), which I saw in late 2008 or so.

I remember, at the age of about 4 years, digitally guiding a connector into a mains outlet and getting shocked. I do not remember ever doing that again since then.

I echo everyone else in this thread who said to access Gmail via POP/IMAP.

I personally access Gmail via IMAP via Mutt, and secondarily Gnus.

Re: File-centric or stuff-centric? How do you get to things?

I am not entirely sure... I use mainly text-mode/command-line applications (Firefox, from which I am posting this, is the main exception), and with the main exceptions of feh, MPlayer, and less (I may be forgetting at least one other), I normally open files from within the applications themselves (e...

Re: Most evil HTML tag?

I voted for <bgsound />. I dislike any non-standard element. I dislike <marquee /> more than <blink />, due to the former originating from Micro$oft... The latter at least has the saving grace of originating from Netscape.

Re: Web Aesthetics & Ergonomics

I prefer that a Web site obey standards, and I prefer that it be perfectly usable in a text browser. It is due to Web sites that violate these rules that I am forced against my will to use a bloated GUI Web browser such as Firefox. So you're that .001% of people showing up in my web analytics using...

Personal philosophy on links and new windows: If a link goes to an external website from the website in question (or any page that doesn't have the navigation to get back to where the user currently is), target="_blank". Else wise, same window. I believe that if the user wanted the link t...

Re: Screechings of the Great Unwashed (Meander to the Morgue

For the billionth time I wrote a rather large post in a forum, only to then click on my mouse-wheel or on something else, a new page loads and my whole text got lost in the internet vortex. Gah . I use the mouse only occasionally now (my window manager is xmonad, and I use Pentadactyl), and I usual...
