Re: practicality of making an artificial neural network play

It could work, but I see a few problems. Most of them are around the fact that Minecraft has a very abstract definition of 'winning'. (Also, the fact that the only way to win Minecraft is by not playing.) The network did this by being fed video feed and having control over the mouse and keyboard. a...

practicality of making an artificial neural network play?

I have been recently playing a game called minecraft which is very fun. Ive also been interested in neural networks. I read an article saying that some MIT students had a neural network that was playing an rts and winning. (very cool) The network did this by being fed video feed and having control o...

Re: "Cemetery" discusstion

My grandmother got ill last week, and my mom seems certain she's going to die in her sleep tonight. Still, I smiled when I read this comic. sorry, I hope she gets better :( on second thoughts I wonder how the conversation with his mom went, maybe something involving flowers, but that would just mak...

Re: Why can't we talk to our computers yet?

another thing is that even humans can sometimes mishear conversations. We usually use context to know the right spellings. Also it's the fault of english language. You can only say words of pure english. Obscure words and hard-to-pronounce (heart to pronouns) get confuzzled (con fazzled). Saying yo...

Re: Wind melodys

Spinning propeller thing with an arm on it that hits chimes in sequence? Tempo would of course be dependent on wind speed . . . That is a good idea. Perhaps I could find a way to limit the speed of the axis and if I played a tune with a slow tempo, the wind could be able to keep the tune go...

Wind melodys

Last night, I was outside listening to wind chimes when a orchestra at the nearby high school started playing. The music did kind of synch with the wind chimes making a neat effect. It got me thinking about a wind-chime that would play a certain melody when wind passed through it. I quickly went to ...

Re: Old games and ethics.

I believe that downloading games that are no longer in production would be ok. How can it be unethical to get a game for free when the company that produced it decided not to, because they didn't think they would make money from it. In a fast digital world like ours its not hard to get your game out...
