Re: 0831: "Weather Radar"

Now talking about things that have biases; I'm pretty sure the xkcd "random" button is biased. I won't ever see some strips, but others strips will come up like every 20-30 clicks. But that could just be my brain being "interesting." (Yes, I click the random button a LOT) "...

Getting a program to shrink to the toolbar: possible?

Hi guys, I was wondering if any of you knew how minimize running programs so that they go to an icon in the toolbar in the bottom right corner of the screen (opposed to a bar along the toolbar). Keep in mind I'm running vista. I've seen some other programs shrink to an icon in the toolbar when you m...

Re: Resolution Question

Wouldn't just sending Alt+D be a hell of a lot simpler, still do the same thing, and be way, way less fragile? -.-........why wasn't I told this. :x EDIT: Sorry xD I guess it's kindof my fault for not telling you guys exactly what I wanted to do...*sigh*...well next time I'll remember to be specific.

Re: Resolution Question

Couldn't you easily make an extension that redirects to the relevant youtube video, or directly edit the DOM and put an embedded youtube video on every page. Technically yes, but: 1) Too simple 2) It'll be funnier if he runs the program, then is unable to do anything while the robot quickly launche...

If you must know, it's going to be an epic rickroll (yes I know, outdated, but my friend will get a kick out of it :D).

"Ya, I'll send it to you in a jar file."

Re: Resolution Question

It's hard. Very hard. You'll want to look into the GetSystemMetrics() call and the visual styles API. Dealing with non-maximized windows is easy: simply call GetWindowRect() to figure out where the window is, although you may need to filter out minimized windows first, as those don't always report ...

It'll probably help if you tell us what you're actually trying to do , because whatever it is, I'm pretty sure you're going about it the wrong way... Okay, I'm writing a program which incorporates moving the mouse over the URL bar in a browser. The single line of code in which I pretty much do this...

Re: Resolution Question

Well hold on, what if I first use the hotkey to maximize the window (alt+space+x) then for the coordinates I'll figure out the fraction of total units wide that will put the mouse over the URL bar, wouldn't that fraction always be the same?

Resolution Question

Hi guys, I was just wondering if screens of different resolutions have different mouse positions of the same coordinate. For example, if I'm using a 1280 by 800 resolution and I move my mouse to the coordinate (100, 100), and if someone who is using a resolution of 1024 by 768 moves their mouse to t...

Hardest Piano Piece

I was wondering what you guys thought the hardest piano piece to play is. In my opinion, it's a tie between Rimsky-Korsakov's Flight of the Bumblebee and Beethoven's 3rd Movement of The Moonlight Sonata.

While it is obvious that the media is much more focused on objectifying women. Like I said before, society encourages men to be overgrown sex-crazed adolescents who view women as objects to be used and discarded. On the flip side, everyone knows (or assumes; this is what is encouraged) that men are...

This isn't comparable to telling a Christian "Jesus wasn't really a god, you know," this is comparable to telling a Christian believer in divine-healing, "praying won't cure that snakebite, you have to get antivenom or you'll die." Both those examples are beliefs of Christians a...

Building a mosque at ground zero represents a group of people's thoughts and beliefs, while also generating hate by other people because of the fact that it is utterly out of place for various reasons. There is no "meaning to life," life just exists, there's no reason why life exists, it just does. We exist for no particular purpose, I don't think that the "meaning to life" is to "have fun," there just is no meaning to life. You go to work, you work, you come back, yo...

I don't believe in any of this 2012 nonsense, but I do however find one fact incredibly coincidental about the Mayan calender. About every 16,000 years, the plants in our solar system become as closely aligned as they will get, which is pretty damn close. The next year this will happen will be 2012....

Questioning logic is like questioning if x=x is true. You may be right that it's incredibly faulty and actually doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Now try to prove that, it's impossible. Who really knows if logic is always correct? Everyone assumes it is, and we all use it to get through our every d...
