Re: Sleep-time holodeck experiences

I was in a national park on some kind of tour, and we saw a bunch of geese floating down a river in a V formation. The park ranger explained that migrating waterfowl will frequently use rivers for travel because it burns less calories than flying. ... When I woke up I realized this is probably bulls...

Exactly what I was thinking. Solar panels are good targets for thieves. I'm assuming the panels will be in arrays north of the wall... putting them literally ON the wall isn't worth the risk.

The WAU was definitely a weak point in the narrative. The comet destruction/abandoned facility is a good part of the story, but the WAU felt like it was tacked on just to give the player some obstacles. I thought the enemies were fine, and after playing Penumbra I appreciated that there were five o...

I played Firewatch because it was on sale, and it was... alright. I agree with Zohar et al. about the plot - if you're going to be dramatic then you should follow through with it. I was hoping for more of a big reveal and it ended up being a disappointment. In retrospect maybe I shouldn't've played ...

Started a new character to focus on melee, and it feels somewhat awkward. Apparently you can't cancel attacks partway through by blocking. I wonder if there's a mod for that. Also Curie is my favorite companion so far. "I believe we are supposed to file a police report, yes? And all the little ...

Finally got around to playing FO4, with no mods at first. It's about what I expected in terms of gameplay (and glitches). I like that the main quest was a little experimental, although it seemed to have too many plot holes for me. Father doesn't really provide any evidence that he's actually...

Basalt! I traveled to Portland to visit a store that specialized in items made out of basalt. I told him I had a budget of around $250 for some flat basalt ...

Is it really exponential growth? Maybe every time you kill someone in a video game, that event creates a brand new video game, and an AI starts playing and killing people in the new video game, which creates more games, ad infinitum.

You could reduce it to 1 bit per second, at which point I guess it would be beeping or not beeping.

Or 1 bit per song in a custom format, if you don't mind narrowing the space of possible songs even further. 0 plays one song, 1 plays a different song.
