Re: Gaming fleeting thoughts

I know this may be foolish, but I'm getting hyped again for Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord. Yes the game was announced six years ago and there's still no release date, but the presentations from Gamescom look awesome. Here's the newest trailer . Apparently one of the developers said they're planning ...

Re: Gaming fleeting thoughts

I've been playing The Witcher 3, and it's pretty great so far. The only real complaint is that every monster has a level, so fights can be arbitrarily very hard or very easy. I've been doing some of the side quests that I had previously ignored, and since I'm ten levels higher than the recommended l...

Re: Sleep-time holodeck experiences

I was walking through a market for rich people, and I was holding a fancy walking cane to try to blend in. There were a lot of stalls, but one that really stood out was an old man giving an MRI to a cello... for some reason. A family had brought in the cello, and I think they were trying to verify s...

Re: Sleep-time holodeck experiences

I had a dream that I was visiting my relatives, and they taught me how to play the card game bridge. I looked up the rules when I woke up, and the dream had been correct. So either I learned the rules of bridge a long time ago and forgot, or the universe is beaming this information directly into my ...

↶ If The Force wants someone to survive, too bad. Combat prowess is directly proportional to plot importance. There can't be any stakes, because anything can happen. I genuinely have no idea what events you're referring to here. Can you give example(s)? There is an exhausting number of scenes throu...

Re: Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi

Star Wars: Episode VIII: Everything Happens So Much. This movie could have easily been a half hour shorter, and I kept waiting for the end. Overall I enjoyed watching a new movie, but there's just so much to nitpick. This was like 90% nit. Most of the crazy parts I can accept, but it just underscore...

Re: Loot Boxes and Battlefronts

Path of Exile discloses the odds of getting each cosmetic from loot boxes. (On the forums rather than in-game, but still.) I'd say this made me more likely to buy some, and I would support every game being required to do that. PoE also lets you buy individual items, which is obviously ideal. When ne...

Re: The 2048th sequel to Blade Runner

It was... alright. Some parts were really good, but this movie felt really bloated and could easily have been a half-hour shorter. It seemed like every single scene had dramatic pauses for effect, with emotional music in the background and characters staring at each other. Which is fine if you do it...

People really weren't kidding when they said Fallout: New Vegas crashed a lot. I think I've got it stable now, but there's still some kind of memory leak so I can't play more than two hours at a time.

Great game though.

This dream was a combination of a bunch of space sci-fi shows, like a Battlestargatetrek. Bunch of people on a big spaceship. I don't dream in color, except for a few exceptions where the color itself is important. I'm actually not much of a visual dreamer at all. There's a three-dimensional setting and I generally keep track of relative physical locations, but my brain won't "render" most of the objects. It's es...

The WAU was definitely a weak point in the narrative. The comet destruction/abandoned facility is a good part of the story, but the WAU felt like it was tacked on just to give the player some obstacles.
