Just general bad grammar and obvious spelling mistakes.

Both of these, as well as the (apparently) sudden popularity of dropping "ly" from adverbs.

Re: Supper or Dinner?

Dinner is the main/most formal meal of the day. Supper is an informal evening meal. When I was a kid, we always had Sunday dinner around three in the afternoon (which I always found to be a weird time for a meal), and then if anybody got hungry after that we could go in the kitchen and fix our own s...

Political comment aside, the Pope employs infallibility and other be-all/end-all axioms that contradict utilitarianism. Machiavelli? Since papal infallibility was first declared in 1870, it has been invoked only once. Infallibility applies only in matters of declaring new dogma. There are many thin...

I love fountain pens, but my work precludes using them often. 0.5mm gel pens are a pretty good stand-in (currently I really enjoy using Office Max's Tul gel pens, though refills seem elusive), as are smooth ballpoints like Zebra, Lamy Safari, or Fisher. I use mechanical pencils for drawing and some ...

Stop buying junk food.
If you think you are hungry, try drinking a glass of water instead. Water, mind you, not pop or juice.
Buy healthier snacks like dried fruit and/or learn to love raw vegetables and snack on those.

Yes, I mistakenly capitalized Da. I should have typed da. Now then..."da Vinci" means "from the town of Vinci." The Renaissance man's name was Leonardo. Isaac, Nicolaus, and Galileo all had real last names. Leonardo, having been born out of wedlock, didn't officially have a last ...

Some foods can trigger migraines. Ask you doctor about that if you haven't already. If you can stomach liquids but not solids while you are ill, you could try slowly working on smoothies and protein shakes. That way you will at least be getting more nutrients.

The kerfuffle between Andrew Schlafly and Richard Lenski over E. coli which evolved to metabolize citrate was quite entertaining and included one of the best takedowns of a creationist ever. A good chronicle of the "debate" can be found here:

The reality TV explosion was largely fueled by the writers' strike a few years ago. People willing to publicly embarrass themselves for money are less expensive than professional writers.

My current favorites are a Graphgear 500, black, 0.5 mm, and an Alvin Draf-Tec Retrac, also 05.mm. The Alvin's point retracts into the body of the pencil, rendering it more pocket-friendly. I've never had trouble with lead feeds not working when I put extra lead inside a mechanical pencil.

The Vatican has a chief exorcist ? That sounds like something out of a Dan Brown novel... Do they also have a high inquisitor? As a matter of fact, they do. It was Ratzinger's job before he became Benedict XVI. In 1981, Ratzinger was appointed Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Fai...
