Re: 1680: "Black Hole"

Cosmology was a long time ago for me, but if we assume the Schwarzchild radius is about 3cm (based on the small black dot in the middle), I get roughly 2 x 10 25 kg equivalent mass, or about 3 times the size of Earth. "Bringing the room together" may be an understatement. Edit: well, I was...

Which makes it even stranger. Why would you change the line out for something that only a tiny fraction of your audience will understand - and those that do will probably find it kind of offensive?

Re: Avengers!

Depicting fictionalized Africa as a thriving urban community is so progressive that I reckon a significant proportion of viewers will be downright confused. ...What? Real Africa has thriving urban communities. Here's Jo'burg , Nairobi and Lagos , for starters. For all the things that I didn't like ...

I never said it was random, I just said it wasn't particularly effective. Also you wouldn't happen to have a source for that count, would you? (Not snarky, honestly interested in getting data from the closest thing to an official source.)

I have read (but not checked) that this atrocity has hit the Dutch population harder than 9-11 hit the US population. That is to say a greater percentage of the Dutch population was killed in this massacre than the percentage of the US population that were killed on 9-11. http://www.nytimes.com/201...

The whole idea that because Israel has this sophisticated defense against rockets it should just ignore the attacks confuses me. It's as if I had to build a garage to protect my car from sprays of acid, and because I keep my car in the garage, I have no right to complain about the acid spray coming...

EGR is exhaust gas recirculation, effectively pumping some of the exhaust back into the fuel-air mixture in the cylinder for a more efficient burn. I wouldn't pretend to know exactly what is causing your problem, but if it's shaking on acceleration it suggests maybe an engine imbalance, like one of ...

As someone who designs vehicle powertrains, you're not wrong. We design for serviceability, but in corporate-speak that means dealer-serviceable, not user-serviceable.
