Re: 1235: "Settled"

Some good discussion here :)

What I'd like to see is correlations between sightings/populations of black bears and Bigfoot, especially since last time it came up on this forum, the sightings were shown to coincide (probably by a linked article?) with the black bear's range.

Re: 1161 Hand Sanitizer

Most germs laugh at alcohol. Ask the ones in your gut. What, do you pour 60%+ alcohol in your gut? How are you still alive, man? ;) Also, tell it to the yeast that ferment themselves to death to produce ethanol-containing beverages... Breed 2,000,000 creatures. Kill of 99.99% with a chemical. Allow...

Re: 1129: "Cell Number"

what a crazy system. Do you also pay for the cost of stamps to receive letters? :D No--but then the US Post Office is going bankrupt. Not many cell phone companies seem to be... On the other hand, I'm not aware of any cell phone companies under a federal mandate to pre-fund the retirement benefits ...

Re: 1037(?): Umwelt

WRONG! “Umwelt” is the German word for “environment”. (In the sense of “the world around us”.) As a punishment, I will torture you by calling a Steak House (a house called “House” that was steak-ized) with my handy , and tell them “I become a steak! And I will a Schüttel-Shake!”. Then a woman with ...

Re: 0991: "Phantom Menace"

There is nothing wrong with being shallow, childish and/or unintellectual. Look at the ancient Greek tragedy, they were making characters out of cardboard – and it was awesome! Quite right. But as long as you don't elevate the artifact as worthy of something that is both enjoyable and replete with ...

(D)DoS attacks aren't really attacks. I'd call them technical harassment. If some guy were pestering you when you were talking to someone else, would you accuse him of assault? Apparently sometimes people do: http://gizmodo.com/5826482/woman-charged-with-assault-for-tapping-muscly-movie-texter :) H...

Re: 0919: "Tween Bromance"

Why all the hate for the word "irregardless"? I constantly have people telling me it isn't a real word. The two arguments are that it is redundant(irregardless=regardless) or that the prefix ir- negates the following term, so by definition of ir- it means the opposite of regardless. Neith...

Re: "Dyslexics" Discussion

I dunno. I'm not dyslexic. If he wrote a comic like this about Asperger's Syndrome, colorblindedness, OCD, or paranoid schizophrenia, I'd be offended. Yes, I have Asperger's Sydrome and OCD, and am also colorblind (only in my left eye, strangely) and schizophrenic. Yet I manage to ACT perfectly nor...

Re: "Seismic Waves" Discussion

... The tweet is a bit harder to calculate, but I'll give it a shot. Over long distances, the transmission mechanism is likely to be undersea fibre optic cables. I can't find any really good numbers on those, but what I can find implies currents of as much as 100 amps at 15 kV, though those numbers...

EDIT: Beaten by three minutes! Oh well.

Argh! I still lose after a couple games. It's hard to unlearn well-reinforced tetris thinking, though it's coming to me, somewhat.

I didn't stop laughing until I clicked through to page 2 of this thread and the page finished loading. Good stuff--I guess it struck a chord with me.
