Re: 0961: "Eternal Flame"

It's kind of a tribute to Steve Jobs being an "eternal flame", though the symbolism may be less flattering :P No, it is an eternal flame itself, commemorating Steve Jobs. In the shape of the spinning wait cursor from Mac OS X. The tooltip text is saying that it would be great if Steve Job...

Fuck DRM, and fuck the companies who insist on lumbering us with it... Luckily, most DRM sucks and is easy to break. I purchase Mobipocket and Adobe Digital Editions (EPUB) ebooks regulary, all "protected" by DRM, and all cracked within seconds of arriving on my computer so I can read them...

All this assumes that she traced the equator as she flew, and went around the globe exactly one time, stopping at the same place she started, and with no altitude change whatsoever (but the latter is not a big factor). Except that the Earth is (roughly) a sphere, so the circumference is actually th...

Ahem.

Not really the same thing, as the RFC is about transporting individual IP datagrams on bits of paper tied to carrier pigeons. I very much doubt that IP over Avian Carriers has a higher bandwidth than cable... ;)

This seems like a good time to shamelessly plug my website: http://www.passwordcard.org/ It generates colour coded, credit card sized, printable cards for you which you can use to choose strong passwords that you don't have to remember. Instead, you remember a coloured symbol, like "green dolla...

Is it supposed to be funny?

Re: 0847: "Stingray Nebula"

Didn't the ring only make Hobbits invisible? as sort of an extension of their natural tendency to go unnoticed? No, the Ring definitely made anyone invisible. The only one who isn't affected is Tom Bombadil. He doesn't turn invisible when he wears the ring himself, and he can also see Frodo when he...

Just remember that science also says that you are nothing more than a vat of chemicals and that there is no ultimate purpose to your life. Also remember that science says that there is no such thing as free will that your actions are a combination of your environment and your genetic programming. [...

Physics is angry with the two folks because "we" are trying to find the Higgs Boson... I mean, is that the joke? That doesn't really have any humour or many any sense, not even in Randall's own terms. Sure it does, it's just absurd humour. The kind I like the best. Like that old joke I ha...

Why is the girl in the last panel speaking to the back of the guy's head? Edit: Unless she's actually targeting her remark towards the "Physics" entity, which I had assumed to be unknown until after she spoke. Not everything in the panel happens at the same time. First she makes her remar...
