I don't get why they would need to remove the picture. It's counting DOWN right? Is this like... a clock rollover joke? There might be other numbers than zeroes hidden behind the picture. If there are, there's plenty of time until the eruption, but if not... He wants to remove the picture to know f...

Informally put, the axiom of choice says that given any collection of bins, each containing at least one object, it is possible to make a selection of exactly one object from each bin.

... isn't that obvious? Why is this such a useful and pivotal theorem in mathematics?

Embedding complete sentences within relative clauses?

I try not to let every day improper grammar annoy me too much (lack of adverb usage tries my patience) but there's a special atrocity that I feel is common enough to warrant a name, though I'm not sure what to call it. Example: I'm looking for a work of art that I don't know what it's called . Clear...

Re: 0710: "Collatz Conjecture"

What if you could prove that all numbers eventually converge to an integer of the form [math]\frac{2^n - 1}{3}[/math] ?

All such integers are odd from my experience, meaning the 3n+1 algorithm is applied, leaving a power of 2, which converges to 1.

What if a minor willingly shows their naked body to a legal adult, but no physical interactions occur? No abuse has occurred, and there was no coercion on the adult's behalf. What separates them looking at a minor in the flesh versus looking at a photo?
