Re: Non-kill-centric games. (I know...that's not a word)
Choice of Games . Story-driven adventure-ish game with "light RPG" elements with multiple endings that incidentally manages to have killing, only if you really push the game in that direction. If it's on Rock, Paper, Shotgun it must be a game, right? Or are you looking for Triple-A games ...

Re: Sleep is Death
This looks really interesting. Pity I'm poor and it costs money (how does a paid game get away with allowing you to see the source code and cutting out the lock that makes you pay). It's indie enough that it was partially/completely funded through art grants, possibly with certain restrictions, who...

Re: League of Legends
Rest assured, it will probably be a TLA and whoever comes up with the name will certainly consider the abbreviation before settling on it, so "single-hero interactive tactics" is very unlikely. Unless Activision publishes one first, at which point we'll end up with a SNAFU on the order of...

Re: League of Legends
For those that know MOBA, they probably know AoS, know MOBA and not AoS I could do my little spiel on the history of the game. To be completely honest, this is probably why I don't like the AoS name - I never played it and actually had to look up the acronym, though as soon as I saw "Aeon of S...

Re: League of Legends
Since there seems to be no relevant discussion to the actual topic, and no one seems to be bothered by this, let's have a go: I prefer AoS because it tells me exactly what I want to know, at the cost of limiting the audience of people that'll understand instantly - it's a small team based game where...

Re: League of Legends
Using AoS might open up some legal/licensing issues, which is why the dev teams probably call it MOBA. After spending time on forums and hearing kids say they played a really cool map on this old game Starcraft called "Aoen of Strife" and wondering if Guinsoo/IceFrog could implement it in ...

I play both this and HoN. Everybody compares them, but I don't see why. They're ridiculously different -- HoN is a DotA clone with better polish and a couple of new heroes. It's slower-paced, and primarily based on technical skill, phased gameplay (laning->ganking->pushing) and is a commercial ente...

Minions, or "creeps" first, they give you gold and exp. To compare it to WoW(some thing I've only observed, not played): -Everyone is shit at level one. Gotta level up first, get some gear. -At level 6 it's time to party, be prepared for enemy players ganging up on you in formerly safe spa...

Re: What Would It Take To Keep Brick Alive?
It's probably easier to go from LAN center to brick and mortar than it is to go the other way - you've got a core business that isn't in too much danger of dying out. There is a local record store chain that hosts table-tops and TCG, although I doubt they have comics, cards, figurines for sale, but ...

What about going to some small Pacific islands, or that set of islands north of the UK (I think Orkin?) that they found some ruins on? That'd be the straight forward move, yes. How well do you know these people, any insight into what else is going on, etc. I'm assuming black circles are production areas, and the circles with white inside are cities iirc. Yeah - he's doing this all in Macromedia Director, and said he isn't changing until he gets more experience under his belt so he can pump out games quickly. It's possible to get by on 2 + high rank, then demand tribute and never look back. Takes a bit more luck than I like, same with Looting the Vaults, but it's possible - it's so much easier to have the flexibility of 3 charisma though. Martial Skill does need a buff badly in my opinion, but you do get...

Welcome to Hell: Solium Infernum
Solium Infernum is a board game that sets you as a lord of Hell against other lords of Hell vying to rule it all, since the job has opened up somehow. (Who knows?) Described by the developer as "an eclectic cross between Diplomacy, Dune, A Game of Thrones and Ticket To Ride", you customiz...

DotA is it's own genre, but that's a discussion for another time. It takes a lot of learning and single player to get into it up-to-par (especially since most of the heroes are directly ported from DotA Allstars), it takes a bit of skin to get used to the trash-talking that's almost required in game...

Red chests are also the only chests that work for the chest challenge, but ancedotally I've usually found higher rarity loot at chests at the end of areas. Of course, the amount of people you're playing with may affect chest rates as well (not including class mods).

Yeah, the actual formula that's being used is quotable at many places for Deploy, but it's probably the best example of badly written descriptions out there which is why I used it. You need at least one point in the skill to gain any benefit from the boost in the mod, otherwise it continuously stacks according to fuzzy logic. For example, Deploy - lowers turret cooldown by 20%. After 5 points (bringing the cooldown to 50 sec) it suddenly changes the amount reduced, unknown how...

I guess we could talk about any zombie mod in here, really. Weapon choice is all down to preference in the end - but you should have at least one shotgun in your group. Why a shotgun? You can play Borderlands as a straight up FPS RPG by yourself, although it's not too hard there.
