Re: To take Enviromental Science or Computer Science?

Have you found a program that offers a GIS major? It's an intermarriage between the two sciences. Basically, GIS is a computer program that can be used to analyze spatial and tabular data. If you want to analyze what buildings are going to be affected when you put in a levee, or where good habitat ...

I actually have a web comic script that does this. The easiest way for XKCD is to actually parse the main page with a regex, download the picture, and then set it as your background with a program like feh. I'll post my code/regex next time I get on my linux partition.

Personally, I think that learning assembly if you haven't done any serious programming is a good way to develop a premature optimization habit. But on the other hand, you gotta think on a low level to do any optimization what so ever. I'd say go OpenGL unless you want to do some embedded systems pro...

Let me demystify a lot of things about websites by explaining how the HTTP protocol works. I'll try and be as least technical as I can while still being useful. I'm leaving quite a few details out, but it should give you a good idea on how web programming works and enough to get started on. When you...

Coming from a student attending a state school costing $5k, I have to say probably not unless you're going for a graduate degree or if you can participate in some sort of undergraduate research program. From what I understand employers care more that you have a degree than where you got it from. Onl...

Nvu is a dreamweaver like WYSIWYG editor for all platforms that you might want to try out. My suggestion is that if you use a WYSIWYG editor as a glorified text editor/web browser combo, then you might want to step up to a "real" editor like vim or emacs.

You'll have to do one of two things:
1) Make your getitem method for node return an int thus limiting your linkedlist class to use only ints.
2) Use generics and make your linkedlist a linkedlist of <Integers> like was said previously.
