Re: 0824: "Guest Week: Bill Amend (FoxTrot) "

Not bad - two of them are even funny. (fat jokes don't really make it, and a "sudo" has sorta been done a little bit. The last one, though, that's not bad.

Seriously, all the best, Randall!

I think this is the threadwinner right here. Brilliant.

Agreed. Beautiful. And I think Tom Lehrer would agree...

What, no mouseover text? Jacques maybe thinks alt text is a little beneath him?

Re: Rant: Java's Type System

And it is rather slow, and not very practical for most purposes. Lazy evaluation makes so many things possible. I really need to get around to learning Haskell. *And* it has a nice type system too! (Thanks, Curry-Howard isomorphism) Under lazy evaluation, you'll get around to it just when you need ...

Re: 0821: "Five-Minute Comics: Part 3"

The funniest thing about the whole thing is the guys trying to rank the comics.... or maybe I mean the saddest, it's hard to say.

Re: How do you pronounce it?

>> WWW = we-we-we

WWW= wub-wub-wub. (I've also heard "dub-dub-dub" but mostly from Seattle-dwellers, who go to or went to "you-dub"
As a noun, the WWW can be expanded variously, but "the wubble-wubble-wubble" is what I keep coming back to

Re: How do you pronounce it?

"C++: The same as basically everyone else on the face on the Earth, "C plus plus". "

The Spanish-speaking world calls it, sensibly enough, "c mas mas" ("c" pronounced like "say", only shorter).
Java is pronounced "hava"
