Re: 1190: "Time"

I saw the java back early the first morning firstly when I was wondering what 'wait for it' meant.

But by the time I read the comments, someone else eventually mentioned it near the end of them.

Ohwell ^-^

Sounds like you're intellectually qualified to manage a sports bar.

Yes, clearly not being overly picky is a sign of my intelligence...

Yes, yes it is. A sign it isn't well.

Re: 1187: "Aspect Ratio"

What about when they've stretched a 4:3 image to 16:9 by extending the 25% on each side? AUGH that's even worse than it being in the wrong aspect ratio. Or a show that has a dozen photos, videos, and films in it - and all of them have been blown out to a different aspect ratio than they were in. WTF...

Re: Why boycotte a place just 'cause of one bad purchase

Mayo doesn't generally have milk in it. I'm not sure a non-sensical order is really a good test for minimum wage workers.

Re: 2012 U.S. Presidential Election

You can explain that by viewing the it through the lens of the Civil war. I should dig up the book that went that tact. It went something like: South use to be rich, but the policies implemented after they lost the civil war transferred a lot of wealth into the northern states. Or was it inflation?...

Re: sexism of anti gay marriage activism

The topic seems to have wandered on this page, but I'm replying to something earlier. Is there a study that controlled for poverty and single-parent, or broken homes? Well, yes, says the American Psychological Association: http://www.apa.org/news/press/response/gay-parents.aspx Most of the differenc...

Search Function

I'd like to say that the search tools break really fast in long threads... Words get flagged as 'common' and then can't be used even in conjunction with other words. It can be pretty bad at times when the key word you know people are using gets flagged as 'too common'.

Re: 2012 U.S. Presidential Election

These county maps are interesting. The country is actually trending more conservative. Just not enough to counter the big turn to the left in 2008. Dirt doesn't vote. -Crissa Did anyone mention that the 'GM is going bankrupt' meme is bankrupt? PPS: Our county hasn't given final vote tallies, either...

Re: Why boycotte a place just 'cause of one bad purchase

I think this covers it: http://xkcd.com/1098/ Although, I find most of the one-star ratings I find have little to do with anything the restaurant can do. They'll complain about not having the right change or ordering something the restaurant doesn't do or don't like spicy food at a spicy restaurant ...

Re: Skype shared info on a user with a private company

This sort of collaboration is a firing offense at my spouse's work. It makes sense that a company may need to give up some identifying information - like IPs and transaction logs - when chasing down bugs and system violators. But this wasn't such a case, it was blatant political sharing between comp...

Re: 0905: "Homeownership"

I want to build a house, but I need a property to put it on. Our current house is on a hill - I mean, on a hill, like, I'm installing 80 4" steps from the carport to the main cabin - that face mostly north. I need a better space, and I really want a modular home from yurtworks.com; they're beau...

Re: 0905: "Homeownership"

Sometimes it's like, this comic reflects my life. And then I'm not sure whether to be ashamed or creeped out. -Crissa When we moved into our new house, we had to finish the kitchen and repair the hot water heater. The latter failed when the gas was turned off during the transfer of ownership and no ...
