Re: Booze Buses (sobriety checkpoints) - arguments against them?

Work itself is not voluntary (at least not for most people), but working at X company/job IS voluntary. Stopping at one of these checkpoints is voluntary, but if I do no stop, then I will be pulled over and likely arrested. If I had known of the checkpoint, I would likely have avoided it, but I was ...

Re: Girl dies as parents pray for healing of treatable illness.

Sortof@Aperfectring: I hate it when people assume that "I have the (legal) right to do X" or even "I should have the right to do X" is the same as "Nobody should be able to judge me for doing X." Freedom of religion works to avoid theocracy and maybe other forms of tyr...

My arguments for the US constitution are generally because it is a VERY good example. When it was introduced, it provided an unprecedented amount of freedom to US citizens. Now, over two hundred years, and through great social change, it still offers among the most amount of freedom available to any...

Could i ask those who appose a personal question? Putting your values and beliefs aside if a drunk driver killed someone close to you, would you still be against the argument? I fail to see the point of the question. You are asking us to set aside our values, of which our rights could ARE part of m...

Re: Booze Buses (sobriety checkpoints) - arguments against them?

I would argue that even if you stop, without probable cause, everything they obtain from your person or your vehicle is illegal search and seizure. If you drive through the checkpoint without stopping, that could (mistakenly in my opinion) be interpreted as suspicious behavior, and therefore probabl...
