This is a case that wouldn't be done with exceptions. I had similar problems with sizing things, and it's kind of difficult to debug. I think here the problem is you've got your search box trying to fill the whole width of the parent, but there are other things already inside that layout taking up space.

The logo thing in the background is distracting and makes the text difficult to read.

The fonts are ok in my browser but the text in the navigation menu is too small and it doesn't seem to fit in very well the rest of the design.

I'd like to help but my internet connection sucks and it would take me years to upload the movie. Maybe we could just move down the list until we find a film that's available on youtube?
