Re: The Thread To Remind Me We're Living In The Future

Huh, maybe they're different in the UK. Pretty sure they're just little chunks of chicken. EDIT: According to Wikipedia: The chicken is cut and shaped to the correct size. This is done manually, by a series of automatic blades, or by a process called grinding (a method of deboning in which the softe...

Thesh wrote:Well, in Colorado it was ruled that you are forced to serve a gay couple, but you are not forced to write a message on the cake.

That's the same ruling as the UK. You can't refuse to serve someone because they're gay, but you can refuse to write a message you don't agree with.

Re: News in brief

Indeed, whatever way the decision went it would cut both ways. For example if they'd ruled against the bakers, anyone would be able to force gay baker (or anyone who supports gay marriage) to bake a cake with "NO TO GAY MARRIAGE" on it, or even worse. I guess there'd still be a limit to th...

Re: In other news... (humorous news items)

The core issue is I don't think there's any clean way to define 'art' at all. Art is basically anything that is engineered to make people think and feel, and the better the art, the more people it will cause to think and feel, and the more deeply they will do so. But obviously that's a totally subj...

It shouldn't have been too hard to make sure the shredder wasn't visible from the outside, and it's not like art house's routinely X-ray pieces of art to check if they're booby-trapped. This hasn't happened before, funnily enough.

As an Alaskan, Murkowski's 'No' vote doesn't surprise me. She's basically a Democrat wearing a Republican hat (at least the way she and her office operate here). Yeah, the Brexiteer plans for the Irish border take magical thinking to a whole new level. They ignored it the entire referendum campaign and even now they're still trying to hand-wave it away with imaginary technology.

Still seems that the only workable brexit option is staying in the EEA. Unfortunately for the Tories they've painted themselves into a corner by ruling it out.
