Re: [SAFESPACE] Woman Thread - All Things Women. Period.

Hooray for choices! In that vain, I am doing the shameless promotion thing for an abortion thread just started. I know people have likely not seen it, and I know other people have had abortions. So, it is not for general debate of abortion but actually talking about and dealing with the experience o...

This was in one of the Pew surveys. The full report can be found here: http://people-press.org/reports/pdf/312.pdf . I think what they did was to make a statement "Women should return to their traditional roles in society." 75% of people disagreed with that statement. I interpret this as ...

Yes; for example, about 75% of people rejected the idea that women should fulfill their "traditional roles" in society. This seems in agreement with feminist values. Note that you originally said not that "feminists are mainstream", but "what feminists do is not mainstream&...

I was thinking more along these lines.

Specifically of this.

Yes, you can hit a pregnant woman in the stomach and hurt her. This is called assault. It is already against the law, and I think there is already a defense on the books for that.

A pregnant woman can fall down a flight of stairs without injuring the fetus. Just about anything that would put a fetus in danger would put the woman it is growing inside of in danger.
