Re: Mass Effect 2.

This is one of the things that bugs me about the game. There are few to nil truly hard decisions. The part that struck me as the best in this regard was Zaeed's loyalty mission. You could save the refinery workers, but that would let the bad guy get away and cost you Zaeed's loyalty. Or you can gai...

Is this actually a change to the conventional wisdom? I thought conventional wisdom was to go to a basement (as they do in every movie), rather than running around outside directly after a nuclear strike.

Re: Need Advice for Nuclear Strike

Say I'm planning on how to defend my city from a shark attack, how crazy am I? Right now the government is torn between educating people on what to do during a shark attack versus not panicking the masses. Some argue that it's very unlikely and we are wasting our time, and others argue that it's too...

The wording of the last bit seems like you actually have to pay SOMETHING for 25 years so the loan doesn't just disappear if you constantly make below $15k (well until you hit 65 I guess). I guess it means the government gets back at least 25 payments (even if they're incredibly small) or you have ...

@Plasma Man, you're forgetting a bunch of important factors in your model. C at 40k barely doesn't pay the most because he only pays tax on his salary above the median, which in your scenario will be quite small. By giving B a larger income than C, B will be making larger payments than C, will reduc...

Re: TES 5: Skyrim

I don't know if that's a fair criticism of this game's plot in particular. Most games already have somewhat predetermined storylines. It's rare that any game results in protagonist failure. Of course, but in the respect of an open-ended RPG, it's a pretty poor first step to basically say "This...

A good rule of thumb for sniping is that if you're only killing other snipers, you're doing it wrong. I do think at certain points static sniping (while strafing of course) can be incredibly useful (offense on first point second map dustbowl to cut off reinforcements, defense on last point of hoodoo).

That spectrum needs a slot for belief that the chance God exists with probability 0, but is still 'possible' (possible being used in the loosest sense of the term). Call that level 6.5. I think thats where I'm at, and I think thats where science is at for any unfalsifiable hypothesis.

Also - why do these need two dminesions? Basically every politician falls on a nice line.
