"This Thursday" means, to me, the Thursday of this week, though in such a situation i would probably just say Thursday. "Next Thursday" means the Thursday of the next week.

My guess would be [ʌ] rather than [ʊ], but still definitely not a schwa. Some pronunciation guides, at least for American English, treat /ʌ/ and /ə/ the same, because the difference is never contrastive, but "schwa" nonetheless refers to a very specific sound which I doubt is the actual r...

Submariner: Everything is a schwa sound except for i, which is like the double e in knee. Emphasis on the first syllable. The B gets clipped whenever I say it for some reason. A stressed schwa? That would be very unusual in English. Are you sure you don't mean [ʊ] ? No, I'm pretty sure I mean schwa.
