Re: Most excellent times

A friend of mine has a crummy old reel-to-reel that he wants to replace. He uses it (among other things) for a slapback echo on the vocalist when he mixes down a jam session. He's also used it as treatment for distorted guitar, which I like very much. Tape has an elegant way of taming wild EQ.

Re: Extra ingredients, or help I have buttermilk.

I used to have three salsa recipes that were all simple and delicious. They're probably online now, the same ones or with variations: one fresh tomato with cilantro, one pineapple/mint (still with onion and heat), and one mango lime. The fruit salsas were great with plain tortilla chips or you could...

Re: Extra ingredients, or help I have buttermilk.

Sounds like you might be able to swap it for cilantro in salsa, for one. Does it taste any good chopped up into a salad?

You can also freeze it various ways for use later. This page has a few methods: http://www.simplycanning.com/freezing-herbs.html

In case there's someone out there who isn't flat broke yet: here's a series of reddit posts summarising some nice deals on Steam right now.

(Just picked up the Double Fine Bundle for C$20.38, including Grim Fandango which I didn't have the chance to finish back when it was newish.)

Re: Thoughts for ships

I've noticed the difference between how pets behave around people they've known since near-birth, and those they met later. There's often an instinctive trust between a grown pet and their humans if they were adopted at a few months old. After they reach adulthood, one has to work harder to get a pe...

We had older dogs for a while (once they got older, that is). They're nice and calm and a bit grumpy and lazy but still the best thing ever. My current housepest arrived already ten years old. She's 12 and a bit now. I put together a nearly-outdoors hangout for her. She goes out there whenever she h...

I got that for a few years after going officially vegan/vegetarian (medical reasons). It was probably five years of occasionally freaking out and inhaling a steak before I lost the taste for meat.

Now I jones for fried tofu or a hunk o' peanut butter. Same dealio.

So, would they work like little IOUs or promissory notes? They'd have to be personalised to accomplish anything. - I sell you a product for $1. - You don't have $1, so I give you a $-1 which means I no longer have a -1 in my possession, theoretically increasing by $1 in assets overall. - You take yo...

Tradition, partly. When I listen carefully to a duck, it sounds to me more like "waat" with a really sore throat. If I walk around making "waat" noises, though, no one will understand that I'm trying to sound like a duck. Because everyone knows that ducks go quack.

I don't know the series you're referring to, so no insult was intended. It did seem odd that you'd use a word based on abîmer to describe something you liked. That's kinda why I asked. (If I'd thought a bit harder, I probably could have hit on "typo" as an explanation. It's a neighbouring ...

I usually use water as the base, if only because proper stock is problematic. (Allergies and other restrictions argh.) Proper stock does add depth and character, for sure.
