Re: Trump presidency

So there's one thing I don't understand about this Flynn story. I get that he lied about talking to the Russian (or at least that's the claim. Others now claim that the Trump administration knew about it all along). But why is talking to the Russians wrong in the first place? He was one of Trump's m...

1:10,000 is ridiculous. Here in The Netherlands we have standard norms for flood risk. For the most densely populated areas the level of acceptable risk is once every 10,000 years. This is for sea flooding. For river flooding the safety standards are lower because river floods are less deadly or cos...

Such a sorry thing to die on Christmas. Lots of people die on Christmas. About 2 in 365 people. Probably more, even, both because Christmas falls in the winter, and becuse many people are traveling. I don't see why it would be a worse time to die. If anything it's better. Your family will typically...

Let's not forget his roles as the protagonist in 1984 and the antagonist in the 2005 remake.

He was an awesome actor. He shall be missed.

We don't need meat. The only reason we eat it is because it tastes good. People like to come up with all kinds of justifications, but in the end, eating meat is killing animals for fun. It's more indirect then killing them yourself out of sadistic pleasure, but otherwise the same thing. Objecting t...

Kingsman is a parody movie though. It's an absurdist comedy. The disconnect between the cheery music and beautiful choreography on one hand and the horror of what is actually happening on the other is not a mistake. It is very much intentional, and is in fact what that scene so good.
