Re: Bush's attempts to limit access to contraception

A fertilized egg doesn't always manage to implant itself anyhow. Sometimes it gets flushed out of the body with the next period.

Re: Jetpack

I'm highly impressed with the performance but the configuration is awkward. The thing is, unless you can make it weigh less than 100-150 pounds you would be much better off shaping it more like a motorcycle and riding on it instead of having it on you. You would need less structure and would have an...

It'd be awesome if you knitted it to scale. (that'd be a crapton of yarn, or whatever it is you knit with) Well, it has to be big enough to hug. Here ya go. http://www.sliceofscifi.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/stargate2.jpg I'd include the active wormhole swirly so you can make it a simple fat di...

Slight adendum to my solution of opening the helmet to orient yourself: Adjust the life-support system beforehand to increase the % of oxygen to hyper-oxygenate your blood to give yourself a few extra moments to get your helmet closed and re-pressuried before you pass out.

Start with a gyrojet-type pistol, lose the spin, and add a secondary propellent charge that fires out the side of the bullet.

Creationists don't attack evolution because they think it's scientifically flawed, they attack it because they think it threatens their faith. It's disingenuous of them not to admit this.

Ah, here it is: Marcus' story concludes in "Space, Time & the Incurable Romantic", a short story written by JMS and published in Amazing Stories #602. It takes place hundreds of years after the series ends. Marcus (still preserved in cryogenic suspension) is revived when the homeworld...

Advertisements for things that don't need to be advertised such as toilet paper because you know for a fact that people will buy it if you advertise or not.

Ah I hadn't looked at the OP since before the edit.
I always wondered if it were workable to smear a thin conductive lubricant on the rails to keep them from being chewed up by the friction and arcing.

Re: Russia proposes law against "emo"

Authorites want all "bad guys" to have clearly visible characterisitics to make them easy to single out. They also want all problems in society to be from a single clearly identifiable source. After all, if the situation was more complex then dealing with it might be... hard.

It's not so much that people can be scammed, its that most people are too afraid to admit to themselves that their BS detectors can be fooled. It's scary to acknowledge that yes, you can be jerked around just as easilly as the next guy.

Back in the late '90s, when I was endeared toward Saturday Morning programming, there was a show on Cartoon Network about three guys in exosuits, one green, one blue, and one... Either red or yellow, don't recall rightly... Anyhow, the green one turned into a motorcycle, the blue one turned into a ...

Re: Things that annoy you on TV

There's another thing that annoys me about TV in relation to squeezing the credits of a movie to ¼-screen size, and that's while the scrunched-up credits of the previous movie are still scrolling, in the remaining portion of the screen the next movie (if another movie is coming on) or program begin...
