Re: Inception

Some potential reasons Saito is older: 1. Saito fell into limbo first, and as mentioned several times in the film--the length of time is multiplied each layer down, so the time between Saito dying and Cobb following could be a pretty big stretch of time. 2. Saito has forgotten he is dreaming and th...

What Belial said..or rather what Belial linked.

It's definitely not an either/or debate for any feminist I know. "Oh dear, if only I wasn't feminist I could be an equalist!"

Re: Inception

The good thing about different readings of a piece of media is that they can all exist together without cheapening anything. So, with the metaphor of Inception as Film Making--the other readings are also valid as is the plot at face value. Nolan's specific intentions for the movie don't even really ...

Beyond that, and not to instigate a horrific firestorm: I'd consider the Catholic treatment of reproductive health pretty hateful and backwards--which isn't surprising considering the misogyny laced throughout the rest of the religion. I wouldn't compare them to the KKK or Al Queda (at least in this...

I agree, when you're playing with dreams you are with a lot of literary and motion picture company--notions about perception and dreams crop up throughout human history in any written body of works we can find (ie. Plato to Shakespeare to the Twilight Zone)--that it's all a dream is relatively unimp...

My favourite tea right now is Coconut Cream Chai--it's offered at a local tea place. It's a pretty basic chai with coconut added and it does have a nice creamy taste. Love this tea. Wanted to share. :D

What confuses me most about parents who wish to pull their children from sex-ed and teach them abstinence at home: Why not send to them to the class AND teach abstinence if you're so stuck on it? It's the same problem I have with parents who refuse the HPV vaccine for their daughters because they wa...

Like Podbay, I got told about sex when I asked--I was 3. My mother explained it in terms I could understand at the time. I agree, although we don't have a word for word account of what went on in the class. If he said "Catholic doctrine states that acting on homosexual desires is immoral" he certainly shouldn't have been fired for that. If he expressed it as truth or a strong opinion on his part, I can see h...
