Re: The radical idea that women are people

I have seen clips of the game and I agree that GLaDOS is an excellent villain. Clearly I need to play this game! However I still must say that these types of characters are rare among the fictional female population, which is sad, and unnecessarily limiting to the stories. :( If there were more vari...

Re: The radical idea that women are people

Yes, bigglesworth mentioned Portal on the other page. I did like the concept for that game albeit I have never played it. I have played Narbacular Drop though so I imagine the experience is not too terribly different.

Re: The radical idea that women are people

The moment that lady started talking about these "mysterious creatures" that "over fifty percent of the population don't understand" I knew I was in for a treat... ugh. It makes my head hurt that people still think this way! You know though: I wouldn't have minded seeing some arg...

Re: The radical idea that women are people

True. I'm not saying that strong female protagonists in video games don't exist. I just couldn't think of many of them off of the top of my head.

Re: The radical idea that women are people

But it's weird that other types of media (Tv, movies, ect) have strong, female protaganists and whatnot.... Just because a protagonist is female doesn't mean she is strong or written well or not actually adhering to ridiculous sexist stereotypes, etcetera. I think that's the main problem with the p...

Re: The radical idea that women are people

I know I probably don't get out enough but I'm still astounded that people think they can use the defense that feminism upsets them as some sort of defense for their "critique" of the movement. Are you dudes that use this defense truly and for cereal surprised that a big movement about som...

Re: Confessions Thread - Large Hadron Confider

Thank you Quixotess. I shed a single tear for your touching words. :D Another confession: I used to think that using emoticons in posts looked unprofessional and childish but now I use them as I feel the situation calls for them. It makes identifying my meaning easier, which is helpful because the I...

Re: Confessions Thread - Large Hadron Confider

I don't like how it looks when you format quote tags properly without an extra line break. This means that I will probably annoy some people with the unnecessary space in my posts. I am a horrible person. :( Honestly, it really only matters when you're quoting multiple sources, quoting a wall of te...

Re: Feminism (split from 'nfessions)

Men, if they want to be taken seriously, should stop making shows where the characters casually cheat on their wives with the secretary and otherwise treat women like scum (I can make silly generalizations too everybody). Seriously: If this dude was trying to say that women are better than to be man...

Re: Feminism (split from 'nfessions)

Welcome, Ginger! :D Thank you! :) I hope I don't seem like a creepy weirdo when I say this but I recall a post that you made that really resonated with me about the whole defense that sexist jokes were just unimportant jokes, but they're really not harmless if you hear them all the time from everyo...

Re: Feminism (split from 'nfessions)

Hi! I just want to say that I really love this thread. I have always believed that the whole macho manly culture (Patriarchy) was problematic, and have been in many arguments defending the right of equality, even in some extremely obvious circumstances--For example: I once had to try to explain that...

Re: INTRO THREAD THE THIRD

I don't know, because this is the Internet where anything goes, which makes it much scarier than your average figurative body of water. This place could have robot sharks instead and those things can swim in the water as well as walk on land since they can transform! Just be careful, okay? But just ...

Re: Fleeting/Random Thoughts

The Doctor seems to have one of everything! I wish I could have one of everything. I just had another thought: What if all of the giant wasp owners got together and allowed their pets to have fun with each other and swarm all over the public park or other meeting place of choice? The levels of aweso...

Re: Fleeting/Random Thoughts

Good points. I would likely do my best to train my new pet: We could go for walks (Flies?) and have tea parties and sting people... wait a second. But maybe I do need better people to know. Touché, Internet!

Re: Fleeting/Random Thoughts

I have a simple thought: A dog-sized wasp owned as a household pet. Wouldn't this be totally awesome? I asked some people I knew and they seemed to think that it was about the farthest you could get from being awesome at all. :(

Re: INTRO THREAD THE THIRD
