Re: Video Shows Sheriff's Deputy's Alleged Assault on Girl, 15

There were 18,454 cases of police brutality filed in 2002 (obtained by extrapolating their numbers from 59% of officers to 100%, and taking out cases that were "not sustained" and "unfounded", i.e. only considering cases that went to trial). In 2006 (forgive me for leniancy of y...

Re: Dirty Bombs, White Supremacists and Not Giving a Rat's Arse.

In any case, it's important to reiterate that the Dirty Bombs are only useful as a fear tactic. In terms of actual damage, you'd be better off with a pipebomb full of nails. Provided the government can control the panic in the population, there's little practical effect. In fact, I'd say a good res...

If you have a normal install disk, then yes, you should be able to install it on any computer.

P.S. The Release Candidate of Windows 7 is scheduled to come out on the 10th of April.

Question 1. I've read that I need to Sync the FSB and the RAM speed, is there anything else I need to sync up? No need for that, as far as I know. Question 2. Huh? In the middle ages the economy of medieval Italy was completely based on trade with the Arabian world, and Spain was a part of it. 2000 years ago, Arabia and Europe were largely united in the Roman empire. 3000 years ago, what we call western civilisation was Arabia. If you look at the border ...

My PC is usually on 24/7, even if I'm away for a weekend. I play a game that relies heavily on IRC, which requires a fair bit of activity. I don't like to miss out on certain meta-game events that occur when I'm asleep, so I keep it running. I also have an IRC bot that naturally requires 24/7 uptime...

No, I do not think you can equate human civilisation to some sort of consciousness. I have a few reasons for believing this. Only one of the steps you mentioned (namely, from cell to multicell) carries with it the emergence of consciousness. I don't think you can generalise this to all following ste...

To amplify this, crazy talk works . It's pretty much a necessity for M.A.D., since the decision to wipe out all life on earth rather than allow your country to be conquered is irrational. There are a few things that might keep the US and Israel from attacking Iran. 1) Popular internal opposition against military action against Iran. It's pretty interesting that we get our panties in a twist over Iran getting nuclear weapons, but regard Pakistan's leadership as a beacon of democracy. Where by 'we' I mean the US government. Not that I'm saying Iran getting nuclear weapons is a good thing, far from it.

For calculating storage, figure you'll need 8GB of space per DVD and 200MB of space per CD (assuming you use FLAC rather than high-bitrate MP3). Uncompressed, this is correct. Otherwise, 1.4GB per DVD rip (XVID) and 100MB per CD (V0 MP3) is reasonable. As for hardware, if you intent it to solely us...
