Re: rock paper scissors contest

not necessarily. let's take the following three codes. def AlwaysRock(my, op, i): return ROCK def BeatPrevious(my, op, i): if i == 0: return SCISSORS else: return (op[i-1]+1)%3 def BeatMostPlayed(my, op, i): if i == 0: return PAPER else: rps = [0]*3 for i in range(0,len(op)): rps[op[i]] += 1 if rps[...

well, technically a legitimate code, but not very effective. you can do better.

rock paper scissors contest

your task, should you choose to accept it is to write a program that plays rock paper scissors against another opponent. as input you'll receive your moves so far, your opponents moves so far, and the round number. no random functions are allowed. although you may write a pseudo random number genera...

Re: the investment game

do you guys really wanna speed up the game? i guess i can simply program more wild fluctuations giving bigger price shifts.
a day is not really a day, i just have code that formulates how much the price should shift and the next likely buy/sell value.
time period isn't factored into the game.

Re: the investment game

Ok... so overall the stocks buying price rose by a factor of 1.007, or 0.7% growth per day. If n is the number of days, and n = log(100)/log(1.007) = 660 days, which is approximately 2 years. In comparison, the largest stock growth was BDAR, which rose by a factor of 1.127. If you invested your sto...

1) next expect is calculated based on the high and low of that day. specifically it's the quadratic mean of those two values. it represents what the market thinks the price will be tomorrow. market force is my random row. it will always be a number between 2 and 0, and represent the amount of fluctu...

so, dragon may say something like: buy 200 VEGS, buy 500 WWAN.
he would have spent 9429 dollars and have 571 dollars remaining for the next day.

Re: the investment game

so turn 1 you buy as many stocks as you have money for. turn two you tend to sell stocks you bought that made a profit, and, if you think the price will go back up keep stocks that made a loss. i'll give it two more days for sign ups.

Re: the investment game

Pardon if I'm misunderstanding, but isn't asking to get 100x your original money a little unrealistic in any sort of reasonable time-frame?

based on the algorithm I'm using, most stocks probably will go up in value. even if that weren't the case, it's just a game, have fun with it.

the goal of this game is to simulate a stock market. each player will try to earn as much profit as he/she can. each player starts off with 10,000$. the player who reaches a total of 1,000,000$ in total worth will be declared the winner. I'll play the role of the market, and keep track of how much m...

man i love this thread. okay my turn. first let 1+1+1 = 3. then let 3++3 = 3+(3+3). then let 3+++3 = 3++(3++3). and so on. now i'll define my mega function. let a(n) be the number of concatenated additions, with two 3's on each end. let b(n) be the number of times a(n) is applied to itself. b(2) = a...
