I was always so disappointed in Red Bull. I never felt energetic after drinking one. It just sat really really heavily in my stomach and made me sleepy almost immediately. The only use for Red Bull is mixed with jager.

Delicious bombs.

Re: The Beethoven gimmick?

Sources for all of this? As a member of various musical ensembles throughout high school, the hand wavings of most band directors who are good and/or think highly of themselves have very little to do with the actual meter or performance of a piece of music. Even when I did regional band and we only ...

Well I was in a (co-ed, I'm female) service fraternity in college, and there wasn't pressure at all to drink. Just going to the parties and having fun with or without alcohol. If you didn't go to parties, you didn't really get to know people well. But I didn't have to drink. Hell, nobody really pays...

Yeah, I've really never understood the "people are stupid, I hate them" mentality. Mainly because it seems incredibly fucking arrogant, solipsistic, and childish. Of course you feel different than other people, you're aware of your own consciousness and thought processes 24/7 while all yo...

Halloween costumes: your favorites and/or new ideas!

I did a search for "Halloween" and couldn't find any dedicated threads. But it's almost October! I thought it would be nice to discuss costume ideas, since I'm notoriously unoriginal and I don't have a huge budget. I've been a pirate for the last 3 years in a row, just because the costume ...

If we were going to agree with your statement that the same desires motivate torture and imprisonment, degree matters. A lot. But I don't agree that they share a root cause. People are generally tortured when they're foreign and have information the torturers want. People are generally imprisoned f...

I'm not saying prison is torture. I'm saying the same root desire is at the base of both of those things. And that that root desire is something we shouldn't be proud of or embrace. If we were going to agree with your statement that the same desires motivate torture and imprisonment, degree matters...

Why does this happen? Why don't we care about rehabilitation and why do we take pleasure in punishing people? It's the same reason why cops beat up the 'bad guys' in their cells. It's the same reason why the USA fucking tortured people... people. We're stuck in this ridiculous cartoon morality that...

I'm going to throw a totally relevant anecdote in here, though I don't know what it will necessarily prove. This law banned the only cigarettes I smoke. Bad. They simply reincarnated as slightly larger versions of themselves that are technically classified "cigars". Way to go, indonesia. The law was dumb, but the loophole was massive. I'm pleased. What flavor was that, if I may ask? I haven't s...

You can blame the song God Bless America for that, if it makes you feel better. If people in Spanish-speaking countries are leaving the Norte and Sur off America, that's not our problem.
