Before the beginning of the semester, the faculty had a meeting to discuss the budgets that each department would need. The head of the CS department says "We need to install 5 new servers and 300 new workstations to accommodate the growing number of students and to replace the old broken stuff...

I'm surprised that so many people didn't get this one.

Just the other day we were discussing futility in physics, and one of my TAs said that physicists can solve one, two and lots.

I've seen good results from wget, and good results from the Ubuntu Desktop (with the exception of transmission). The first few times I used them, I was super surprised at how accurate they were. Yeah, wget's ETA meter is really good... it actually uses separate averages for the speed (a short fast ...

Randall, get outta my head!! I just got a college paper back, and I got a decent grade on it, but in the markup there was a red underline in the sentence: It is also true of a graph with k+1 nodes. First of all, I like White Hat Guy even more than Black Hat Guy. He's like the antithesis for stupidity and arrogance (reminds me a little of Obviousman, only wittier). What would happen if the two Hats had a face off? I wouldn't know where to place my money. On another note, I have a theory: The pa...

Isn't "android girlfriend" a contradictory term? Android, from the Greek andros, meaning man, refers to masculine and gender-neutral robots. A robot girlfriend should be a gynoid, from the Greek gyne, meaning woman. (Unless it's a transsexual robot...) Man is often a shortened term for Ma...

My rule is to seed for twice as long as it was downloading, uploaded twice the amount of data that downloaded, or until I need the bandwith.
