Number systems reflecting fuzzy reality

This is an attempt to reconcile rigorous mathematics with nebulous, ill-informed pseudophilosophy, so be warned from the offset that I may alternate from being reasonable to having no idea what I'm talking about several times per sentence. I'm wondering if there is a studied number system which bett...

Re: Games to play with Chinese characters

Thanks, glad you had fun with it. Indeed, it's an interesting challenge - it can be frustrating when a kanji comes up that you know as well as your name but you realize you can't think of a single other word containing that kanji (then you scan the dictionary and see all the obvious possibilities). ...

Re: Games to play with Chinese characters

I've programmed a computer version of the Kanji Chain game I described in the opening post: http://larrykenny.com/kanjichain/ Check it out, give it a try, and if you could give me any feedback on any bugs or ways to improve it that would be terrific. If enough people want to use it, I'll work on imp...

Thank you! ^_^ Translation: kriegen = colloquial word for bekommen = get / receive. Davon kriege ich nie zu viel = I can never have / get enough / too much of that. Aah, that makes so much more sense. All of the lyric site I could find, even the ones in German, had "ich nicht" instead of &...

Re: Grammatical errors you think should be acceptable

I think the not-so-subtle difference between "if there is" and "if there be" is that the latter is virtually non-existent in contemporary English and probably even ungrammatical for a number of speakers. What would you want there difference between the two to be? Heh, ...

Re: Grammatical errors you think should be acceptable

I think that in spontaneous, spoken English, "there is" and "there are" should be acceptable regardless of whether or not the following word/phrase is singular or plural. For example, "There's a lot of people here." In writing, it still seems to be wrong, but in speaki...

Re: Homemade Spy Drone displayed at Black Hat Conference

The spy drones have multiple uses, both good and bad. Hackers could use them to fly above corporations to steal intellectual property and other data from a network, as well as launch denial-of-service or man-in-the-middle attacks. They could also transmit a cellphone jamming signal to frustrate an ...
