Abortion. It just doesn't make sense to me, and that's because I have a limited buy present understanding of both sides of the argument. On one hand, there are cases like rape and the endangerment of the woman involved, and even in other cases unwanted pregnancies are definitely not a good thing. On...

Granted. Today is the high point in your entire life, and as you realize that everything afterwards fails to measure up, you sink into a deep depression.
Why is today the high point in your life? Because you got a cookie. And that's considered an improvement.

Confirm. EDIT: So, if somebody claims doc and doesn't get lynched, couldn't the cop just investigate them overnight in case the mafia decides to leave them in for the sake of confusion? And if the mod is mean enough to not reveal people's roles once they die, this could keep a mafioso from claiming...

I think that they're hypothesizing as to what those movies would have been like.

I think they're being too pessimistic -- I mean, is it possible for a movie as good as the Matrix to have sequels that totally suck.
Wait, yes. It probably is.

Aaand I kinda liked Demo 2.

Ping was difficult but got incredibly repetitive. Ramio was fun. But what I liked the most was the humor, and the fact that the characters all have personalities -- cliche though they may have been, they at least felt a little fresh.

But without that, we never would've gotten to see Hitler shot in the face a thousand times! Also, the Basterds there didn't have any foreknowledge of Shoshanna's plot to burn the place down. They only knew about their own plot. In fact, there's a great bit in the script where Shosha...

Something by David Lynch. Because no matter how many times you watch Eraserhead, Mulholland Drive, or Inland Empire, they will never make sense. Or... *looks on Wikipedia for longest movie to seem even remotely interesting* you could watch Satantango. You'd only get three, three and a half viewings.

That having been said, Gatsby was the actual example of what I mentioned earlier. Supposedly, no individual board member ranked it above ~40. It just got pushed up for appearing more frequently than other books. I think that's what happens a lot with this kind of list. The books that make it are of...

Re: The Modern Library's Top 100 novels of the 20th Century

The thing with Gatsby is that we have to interpret it I guess, to appreciate it. This holds true with a lot of great books. I mean, it's often possible to like a book without bothering to interpret it, but , in my humble opinion, great books are the ones that you like even more after you think abou...
