Re: xkcd The Truely Open Game - is this awesome y/n?

More variety in game settings. Why do the only "modern era" RPGs have to masquerade as murder simulators? That's one (slightly off-topic) thing that's always bugged me - the combat in RPGs is almost invariably the least realistic part, the mechanics never really make any sense, and, gener...

Re: +1 Internets

These systems are always so very, very terrible. And pointless. Can't forget the pointless. A couple of people (Belial, maybe some of the other mods) would shoot to forty thousand or so. Trolls would plummet to minus forty thousand and compete to see who could get the lowest score. Anybody who ever ...

If it's a clear day one half of us could go to the south coast here and the other to the top of the South Island and we could communicate via flag signals. That kind of counts as a meet-up, right?

Fucking heaps. I can't get the calculator to work, but it's on http://www.interislander.co.nz.

Edit: Ouch, if I'm reading this right it'd be almost $500 for a vehicle and two people to go return ($240 each way). Uh, yeah. Fuck that ferry.

Well, I watched this episode, and, uh, I hate to go against the grain here and all, but I still didn't think it was very good. And I still think the premise is fundamentally flawed and unbelievable and misapproached on many levels. And the acting is terrible, especially some of those on-the-street p...

One would think there are plenty of people who don't live in the US, and plenty of people who watch via a variety of other time-delayed methods. One would think the spoiler policies of this forum are the way they are for a reason and we don't need to have this debate again.

I didn't know all of those plot points, having only watched episode 1, and it was clearly massively superior in every possible way. It was well written and well paced and had just the right amount of plot for a first episode.

Re: she was my first and i love her still... [Intro to Anime]

I first watched Akira at a far-too-young age. Not that it was inappropriate for a six-year-old (though my mom certainly thought so,) but rather that it was so good and I was so impressionable that it sort of "defined" anime for me. It wasn't just that most other animes didn't live up to i...

Focus groups always suck. Focus groups liked New Coke. Test screenings are the cause of every shitty ending in the history of cinema.
