Well I think you'll all be interested to know that I'm now downloading Linux Mint right now. When I reformated my laptop and reinstalled windows I made a second partition on my HD for a Linux distro. I was just about to defend Hammer by saying it isn't outdated and not particularly difficult to use, but then I took a look at my name. Also, a lot of Source maps aren't stupid, but they aren't necessarily good either. Knowing how to use the editor is different from knowing how to make MAPS. The LB...

the community will come up with some insane levels. The community often does. But does the community come up with fun and playable levels? I'd imagine most of them will just be "Hey look what wacky thing I can make!" levels, but there's always a 1/20 chance that a community made level wil...

Your best bet is probably to use something like XPadder (or whatever it's called, I've never had a reason to use it). But honestly, Freelancer doesn't seem like the kind of game that you're better off using a joystick in, it really seems to be more like an FPS than a space sim when it comes to flyi...

The winner is cold pizza, easily. Not just pizza, but cold pizza. The advantage of cold pizza is that you get the same great taste as hot pizza (sometimes even tastier) only without the dripping cheese and greasy keyboard. No plate required for this delectable treat!

BTW, are you sure your programming language doesn't have a built-in value for Pi? I think that the game kit he's using is C++/Windows, but I could be wrong. With the usual compiler tools on Linux/BSD/OS X (and I believe with ICC on Windows), the constant M_PI is defined in math.h, but only if you a...

Re: Need help with programming direction using trigonometry.

My best guess is gonna be this: If you input 90 into the sin function, most likely it's going to interpret it as being in radians . (2*pi radians = 360 degrees) So the sin of 90 degrees is 1, but the sin of 90 radians is something quite different. Most likely you just need to input pi / 2 radians a...

Let's start with Newton's equation: F = G(M 1 M 2 )/R 2 (twerked just a bit to match your variable names). Now divide both sides by G/R 2 to get FR 2 /G = M 1 M 2 . You've got F and R, and G is just the gravitational constant, 6.673 × 10 −11 N m 2 kg -2 , give or take a bit. Fire up your calculator...

OK, you've already written down the sum of M 1 and M 2 . It should now be apparent how to get the product of M 1 and M 2 by way of Newton's law of universal gravitation. (Let me know if it isn't!) With those two pieces of information, how might you solve for M 1 and M 2 ? Its not apparent at all. A...

All I can think of is this: [math]0<Msum<4[/math]
