Re: Police misbehavior thread

I think they just have to have a card to prove it. I'm quite certain that it happens. But ticket fixing isn't even in my top 100 for police corruption. Like you, I've heard these stories since I was a kid. And like most stories there is less than meets the eye in them. Cops have many chances to do ...

Re: Police misbehavior thread

It's detectives that uncover corruption. While detectives are different from beat cops, both are under the same jurisdiction. That is an over simplification if I'm not mistaken. Most local police will never see a corruption investigation unless they are a target. They attack it with multidisciplina...

I always thought of melting as a phase change, where you end with the same thing you began with in a different state. Say for instance some waxy substances whose name plumb eludes me. Wait, paraffin. Carry on.

Mind control is precisely the point. To change people you need to rewrite them. And we can't do that. You want to take a person and rewrite their personality in such a way that the never feel the need to do murder again. And even if you could, what do you do when the reality the produced them rewrit...

I'd like to think that it was true. And I don't mind prisons that don't produce better criminals. The criminal justice system in the US falls between bad and terrible. It doesn't produce good outcomes. I just have a very pessimistic view after watching it get worse over the years.
