Re: Thinking Of Proposing To Her? Read This First

Unlike cultured diamonds, cubic zirconia (abbreviated CZ) is made of a different material than natural diamonds. It primarily consists of zirconium dioxide. Therefore, its chemical properties are close, but different from diamonds. While cubic zirconia has more 'fire' or light dispersion , it is he...

Do you give Christmas presents? Giving Christmas presents is utter bullshit, always has been. So, stop being a cheapskate, give her the ring and buy yourself something nice too. Excuse me? Your comparison makes no sense. A Christmas/birthday/whatever gift doesn't have a societally mandated expectat...

Re: SCCA autox and getting into grassroots racing

I would hope that they had a reason to not let you use the xB. It's possible that they've had problems with people putting them on their roofs in other regions and the SCCA nixed them. This wasn't the SCCA, it was a local CART group, so the SCCA[1] may have different rules. What a bummer the Comet ...

Three months salary? I remember when it was two months. The whole diamonds thing is complete and utter BS, always has been. I don't like diamonds anyway, they are an incredibly boring stone compared to the various colored jems. Plus it is impossible to tell them from a cubic zirconium or other synth...

Re: SCCA autox and getting into grassroots racing

The CG is actually relatively low in the xB for all their tall shape. They are built off a Toyota Echo chassis and most of the drivetrain is pretty low in the car (the radiator comes to the top of the front bumper, the "grille" between the lights is a fake). I suppose the look top-heavy to...

Re: SCCA autox and getting into grassroots racing

Went autocrossing this weekend and had a lot of (very sunburned) fun. I brought both the Comet & the xB, however upon arrival was told the xB would only be allowed to run if it was lowered and the suspension was stiffened. They claimed it was due to a high center of gravity, which I don't believ...

You have been calling around and everyone has been completely sold out. You found a store that had two in stock and you decided to wait until the next afternoon to go "check them out"? Guess what, if no one can keep them in stock, then that store is likely to sell out pretty fast too. By t...

Re: What were your dreams last night?

I almost never recall my dreams, I usually remember one every few years. This weekend I had one I remembered. I was arrested on drug charges[1] and sent to prison. It then skipped a head a few months and I was released(served my time). While trying to get my life back together I was arrested on drug...

Dress in clean but not new casual clothes. Be recently showered, and look so from a distance (recently shaved, hair not bussed or greasy). Crude Oil Prices Fall Sharply (NPR audio news story)

Caught this on the way into work. Apparently reports of a strengthening dollar caused oil prices to fall to $125/barrel. The speculate that because the dollar is strengthening that investors are looking for safer investments then oil.

Re: What's causing high gas prices in the U.S.?

NPR has done a couple stories on this, and it basically works out that the single biggest push is investor speculation. If I recall the article correctly ( I've looked on the NPR site, but my work blocks all the audio files so I've had no luck finding it ) global demand, supply limitations, etc. can...

From Wikipedia: 1997 Toyota Celica gets 2.4% better mileage at 65 than it does at 55, although almost 5 mpg better at 60 than at 65. Therefore, There is no question that driving 55 mph vs. 70 mph will save gas. There IS a question. It's different for different cars. For example, the Celica. I think...

1) Slowing down saves gas. Period, full stop. When you are talking about highway speeds, car traveling slower will burn less gas than one traveling faster. The reason for this is that the force needed to push the car through the air goes up in an insanely steepening curve as speed increases[1]. Yes...
