Re: Board games anyone?
We finally, finally finished going through Pandemic Season 1 with my in-laws. I think they all appreciated the experience, even though it started on a very low note - two losses in January and the loss of the dispatcher. Things kept bouncing around but I ended up giving us a few perks along the way....

I'm sorry but that is such a failure of logic (disregarding that the survey says 138 million as the estimate, not 142). But anyway, just because someone says they'd like to, does not mean they would. The question asked in the survey is: Ideally, if you had the opportunity, would you like to move per...

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/09/technology/amazon-workers-pay-raise.html Amazon's pay raise to 15$ isn't actually a raise because Amazon is canceling bonuses and other benefits, which means some workers end up with less income overall. What I don't get is how Amazon thinks this wouldn't get out?...

I've heard robocalls sometimes record you saying "Yes" (as in "Yes who is this?") to use later as proof of confirmation of whatever they're trying to charge you. May be a hoax but I've started answering with "Hello" instead.

The greatest feature of modern art is also its greatest problem. Modern art requires little personal investment in terms of years of training in color theory or pigment preparation or ceramics. This means there is no significant barrier to becoming an artist, and anyone with great ideas can create....

Cooked so many things yesterday. We got a bunch of apples in our CSA, so I cooked them into apple sauce and froze them so we have some to eat on Hanukkah with latkes. It's getting close to freezing so I picked all of the basil and made a bunch of pesto sauce, froze that too. Made another batch of gr...

That's a good point and I do try that to a degree. I read Lilith's brood and will give Wild Seed a go. Right now I'm trying to commit to reading at least as many books by women as I do by men. Which means I need to read at least 10 books by women to match the 10 books I already read this year. Yeah...

Most of what I read is sci fi and fantasy, so I'll give recs in those areas. I would also recommend you try to actively find writers of color (which you've begun to do with Octavia Butler and if you haven't read Wild Seed I highly endorse doing so). N K Jemisin really came into prominence a couple o...
