I think that another way of thinking about it is that the mass accelerates you into the gravity well but you fire it off before it has a chance to slow you from coming out.

I kinda took it for granted that octopuses used tools. They are a little scary because they are vicious and hold grudges. It would be much better to teach science to cuttle fish (they're more cuddly).

From what I understand it commonly means vagina, or possible vulva I'm not entirely sure. Though in this case he isn't pressing his hands together as firmly as is usual so it's quite possible it means something else

If they really wanted to keep out larger creatures then the tunnel would probably have an acute turn to the right go straight for a human body length and then turn down 18O under itself. This seems to me like it would be the most claustrophobia inducing setup.
