Hm, maybe we need to revisit #3 - do we all agree that there are beliefs (this can be in any subject) that are worthy of derision and/or dismissal? Even in casual conversations, if I'm talking to some people about (say) black holes and somebody starts talking about their sincere belief that black h...

@Hippo: SCIENCE! I dunno really. Holding onto matters of faith as fact is, in my opinion, an indication that one's faith isn't very deep to begin with. I'll never convince my father that God doesn't exist, but I can easily convince him that the world wasn't created in 6 days. that claim that the wo...

Re: Legitimate Faith vs Wacky Cult

1. Spirituality and faith are not universally bad things. In general we should respect people's beliefs (when they do not attempt to impose them on other people). 2. When it comes to spiritual beliefs, there's no solid basis for saying that any one of them is more likely to be true than any other (...

i believe the last explanation i heard was: pluto was a moon, but was ejected from its orbit around one of the gas giants when something struck it. which would make the OP's definition very resolute in the fact that pluto is not a planet. i like it. it's the way science should be. facts, not here say

A hybrid bike is basically a mountain bike frame + flat bars with fat but slick tyres,. actually that would be a cruiser. the one im referring to has thin tires and a medium weight frame, the difference to the tires being slightly more aggresive tread on them as opposed to the smooth racing tires.
