Help with some friends trying to join the site (no reply to their signups)

Postby Rajam » Sat Aug 19, 2017 7:12 pm UTC

Hello, I'd like to request help from admins to admit some friends who are trying to join the site to play some Mafia games in the respective subforum. These guys are:

#HBC | YOLOSWAG (he changed his password, but never received an email back, so he can't log in)
Spak
Maven89

Thanks in advance!

If they just post in the thread in general then we can approve their posts and they'll be fine.

oh, main issue is that they can't even log in to post that, they are still waiting for emails to confirm their accounts :O

Assuming the option does what it says it does, they are active now.

^ using less steganography: he manually verified the accounts of your friends (bypassing the email verification) and they can log in now.

(I guess the thing Angua said still applies if they want to join forum games, but I don't know which buttons ST pressed exactly. Who knows he might've pressed buttons to activate the ICBMs. And those are only tied to bypassing account verification in phpBB, not to bypassing the 5-posts barrier.)

The admin panel has a "Activate" option.

I assumed it would activate the account and bypass verification.

I was correct. Hooray me!

I've noticed that Amrock has been our latest new member for quite a while now (Sept. 1) - bumping this thread in case there's another backlog of sign ups without friends on the inside to ask for them.

That's happened.

I can be reached by my profile, technically.

How? I just logged out to check, and as far as I could tell any actions involving your profile (including just viewing it) required logging back in.

You are right. I recall being able to look at Cached versions of the forum and viewing profiles that way, but it no longer seems to work.

Weird.

At any rate, if there's a secondtalon (or second talon) on another platform, it's got a 99% chance of being me.

(Which also means I can't wait for a time where someone tries to threaten me with my name, so I can be all "Good job, Master Hacker. You understand Facebook.")

I look exactly like her when I shave and grow my hair out and rework my facial bones and skin.

Also you'd already know what I looked like if you properly stalked me.

Alas, SecondTalon, when I clicked on that link, I discovered that I am "not authorized" to properly stalk you by downloading that attachment.

Weird, it should be the one linked in the Face thread in General, not the one linked to the "Check out my bitchin' hat" thread in the Mod Forum.

I suspected that that might be the case. I've never asked a gatekeeper to let me join the Truly Free, because according to my worldview, true freedom isn't fenced in, and therefore doesn't have a gate at all.

(But if I'm going to be that picky, I should confess that, according to my worldview, proper stalking is both inherently unauthorized and unsuspected by the stalkee. So I have failed to meet either SecondTalon's or my own standards of proper stalking. No matter.)

[Edited to say: I may or may not have tried searching one of the mentioned threads, and may or may not have found something royally fabulous, but if I were to admit it here, I'd still be short of my own proper stalking standards. Hypothetically, of course.]
