The Spam

Postby Edna » Mon Mar 26, 2007 10:09 am UTC

I know I am new an' all but by christ I have rarely seen so many spam bots.
Just a thought but how about limiting new members to posting so many times (10?) before starting a new thread?

It's an idea that's been bandied about but really we are just waiting for the new release of phpBB which is apparently not too far away and features some awesome new stuff. Until then it seems that us mods will keep on deletin'.

This is less compared to what it was...maybe six months or so ago. Crazy times.

There's already a thread. Several threads, in fact, but one that you're actually supposed to use and isn't locked.

As opposed to this one.

To be fair to Edna, this is a sensible place to have one and it's not his fault that we've yet to move the official Spam topic into the Site/Forum Issues first. I'll go see if I can dredge it up and shift it now.

Good idea, Jesster. If you find it's horribly off-topic or something maybe your could doctor it or re-open this one or something.

It's actually easier to delete a spam-only thread than it is to delete several spam posts in an otherwise okay thread.

"Edna" is a man's name?

The Simpsons makes a whole lot more sense now...
