What is the typical name of a job role with these responsibilities:

-Manage a team of developers / engineers
-Also write code and help project development
-Determine best technology stacks and practices to use
-Research and continually monitor upcoming or existing technologies, both in the academic (e.g. publications) and corporate world (e.g. new startups)
-Responsible for the outcome of a product / project

I'm thinking this sounds like a Chief Engineer or Software Architect.

Team lead? Or manager. We don't really have a software architect where I am, though. Data architect yes, but that's different.

I would call such a person a team lead or an architect of some sort.

Lead programmer might fit, or any of the synonyms mentioned in the article. But given the non-normative nature of job titles, "zlorblax" might fit as well. You decide.

That would be a technical architect here, or maybe a director, but a director isn't usually as hands on.
