They are part of the little clump of ashes that fall off the cigar, and the smoke, respectively.

Five-paragraph essay:

We've had open borders between us for ~70 years. Swedes and Norwegians can understand each others' languages, and so can Danish and Norwegians, and Finns learn Swedish in school and have a large Swedish minority group. (Exhibit A, it's a Finno-Swedish comedy group, but it's more likely to be appreciated by Swedes than the average Finn; It's in Swedish, but in a very strange dialect thereof. Supposedly it sounds a bit like Korean, which is the joke.). I think there is some resentment in Finland towards Swedish as a result of the mandatory school subject, since they view it as a symptom of pre-1800s colonialism.

We've had all sorts of alliances and wars over the years, though mostly between Sweden and Denmark. The last alliance, Sweden-Norway, ended peacefully in the 1800s, which nipped a lot of potentially bad blood in the bud. Since then it's been peaceful. But, even so, Dansh and Swedes pretend to hate each other because of our past rivalries, and Sweden has been some sort of running joke among macho-Finns since the 70s because they didn't like our women's movement or something, and Norway jokes about us being stupid. Dunno about the respective relationships between the other countries. Except Norway, of course. Everyone loves Norway. It's impossible not to.

Politically, we have mostly similar ideologies, all of them being social democracies, but the bell-end of the Scandi-penis called Scania historically belonged to Denmark, so they're a bit weird. We joke that we should give it back and that they're all continental potato-racists, and while there is some truth to that (it's where currently prominent nazi movement had its epicenter, and Denmark has had its share of anti-immigration right wing extremists, albeit not nazistic in origin), it's mostly just banter. That's the only direct chafing I can think of.

Oh, and there is some difference among our 20th century history which tends to create some ideological differences even today. Like how Denmark and Norway were invaded by the Germans in WWII, while Sweden gave in to German demands in exchange for independence. And we had a pretty huge eugenics and racial biology program in the early half of the century. As a result, we never really made up with our ties to nazism, which allowed these movements to continue to ferment in plain sight until this very day. This is in contrast to the other Scandinavians, who grew their nationalism fresh out of anti-EU sentiments and protectionism, and who (at least online) can't understand why we're so afraid of giving in to our brand of them.

And Norway and Denmark joined NATO in the Cold War while Sweden and Finland wanted to remain alliance-free, Sweden being more heavily influenced by the West and Finland by the Soviet. This has influenced our stances on war and international politics quite a bit in different directions. One interesting point I read about it recently Re: Trumpism and propaganda in social media was that Finns were in general more resilient against that sort of stuff, given their past experiences with Russia.
