Three words, one solution

Postby gewoonm » Fri Oct 28, 2016 5:34 pm UTC

Hi all! A while back I made a card-game where people had to either solve a riddle with three keywords, or make up a story about those words that sounded plausible.
Sadly, the card-game never came to fruition, but that's no reason to waste the riddles :)

So I've picked the most difficult ones (that aren't easily 'googleable') and I'll post them here.
Whenever a riddle is solved, I'll post the next one! Hope you enjoy it.

Mile
(∫|p|2)(∫|q|2) ≥ (∫|pq|)2
Thanks, skeptical scientist, for knowing symbols and giving them to me.

Curious to know what the mile has to do with it ;)
Perhaps it's good to add a small explanation to your answers!

Edit: oh and it's not the right answer :D

Probaly this was thought to be the inspiration/key.
Didn't look quite right, but I don't understand what you mean by "riddle" in this context. A word that relates to all three individually, but separately?

Will cogitate.

Riddle may not be the right term, but it's the only thing I could come up with :)

Indeed: there is a word or concept that connects the three words. It could be anything.
"Three mile island accident" could be a solution, but isn't in this particular case!

Good luck

Obviously the solution shouldn't be some general adjective as "big" or "small", even if they fit. Is it a noun?

In this case it's a proper noun (a name).

But yeah, the idea is to find the connection between the three words.
As an example: 'gun eye finger' would describe "James Bond movies that have gold in the title".

Is it Manhattan?

Manhattan distance is a measurement of distance along a grid, following the gridlines.
Manhattan project developed the nuclear bomb.
There's Manhattan island in New York City.

Curious to know the connection with sailor :) You mean celestial navigation?

It's not the solution I had in mind. There's a particular reason for these three heavenly bodies.

I realise this one is a bit tricky, as multiple interpretations are possible. But the order is important. Also, it's impossible to add another one ;)

Great guesses, but not what I had in mind :) It's not in the gaming world!

By the way, I'm not a native speaker. In this case 'lightning' might be a better word than 'flash'.

Filmed in Europe?
Spoiler:
Not true for Lord Of The Rings (either Bakshi (US) or Jackson (NZ), so maybe not that), but Star Wars, Flash Gordon and War Horse all were filmed in UK (possibly counts as European) film studios.

Long shot, but I want to demonstrate that I'm thinking about it... ;)

@soupsoon Again an interesting guess, but not correct!

It is cool to see your guesses, I learn a lot of new things this way :) Which also was the original idea of the game!

Perhaps another hint: it's got nothing to do with media.
