20 Questions Variant

Postby 12obin » Fri Mar 31, 2017 3:13 am UTC

I'm thinking of a thing. I will answer yes/no questions from anyone. Instead of getting 20 questions you get 10 nos. Try to get a yes to avoid losing points. Whoever guesses what I'm thinking of gets to pick a thing next for everyone to guess.

Does it contain any quarks?
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family Anatidae on our hands. –Douglas Adams

I'm gonna give a soft yes here, there are a couple ways to interpret that question.

oh gosh this line of questioning is really difficult to answer in a binary way. I'm going to say no on the basis that although some materials might be considered metal or metalloid in a scientific context, those same materials might more widely be considered nonmetal. You can fight me later if you want.

I was going to mention breadboxes, but I think I'll go a bit larger.

Is it larger than an armchair?

i can't think of any items that fit all answers so far:
made of minerals, non metallic (but metallic in the strict scientific sense), a tool or weapon, smaller than a bread box,
commonly used, would find it in a kitchen or garage, begins with a-m.

most tools and weapons are metal in nature. i cant event think of a good question to ask.

I was defining tool very broadly, maybe too broadly, and i wouldn't really have thought of it as mineral even though it definitely is.
Kitchen/ garage also is definitely strictly true but you might want to think more about why an item might be in various places/rooms.

A fire extinguisher tends to be bigger than a breadbox.

Is it bigger than a shoe box?

Do you mean is one instance of it more than one color, or are different instances of it different colors? I'm going to say yes because at least one of those things is true.

Yes (and it is on that basis that it could easily be found in either a kitchen or garage)
