Once a year, no more, no less

Postby patzer » Wed Sep 20, 2017 3:18 am UTC

First person to post in this thread in any given year gets (year-2000) points. For example, if you're the first to post in the thread in 2018, you would get 18 points.

The year is defined as starting at 00:00:00, 1 January, UTC.

There are consolation prizes! Second person to post in this thread in any given year gets ((year-2000)/5) points. Third person to post in this thread in any given year gets ((year-2000)/10) points. For example, the second person to post in 2018 would get 3.6 points; the third person to post in 2018 would get 1.8 points.

Now, as the first post in this thread in 2017, I should get 17 points. But that would be a bit unfair, so just this once I'll say that I don't get any points.

So, the next poster in this thread in 2017 will get 3.4 points. And the poster after that will get 1.7 points.

And after that, there will be no points available until 2018.

Good luck!

(Maybe it would have been more accurate if the title of this thread was "Three times a year, no more, no less"?)

Ah, good concept. Means that if there's a rush of posts when we hit the new year, the ones who get ninja'd still get some points.

Oh goodness I completely forgot making that. Even now I can't remember making it.

This is a tiny bit embarrassing.
