The current status for [http://forums.xkcd.com/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=112655 this] game of Nomic. Gameboard status may be found [[XKCD Forum Nomic 27/Gameboard|here]].

==Rules==
#<s>A new rule may be added by unanimous agreement of all players.</s>
#The game shall begin upon the joining of a second player.
#<s>After a fifth player joins, only 4 players agreeing are needed to add a new rule.</s>
#Rules shall be numbered in order of passing. Rules with a greater ordinal shall take priority over those with a lesser ordinal in the event of a conflict.
#Rules 1 and 3 are hereby void. The following rules are hereby enacted: (Rules 6-11 were enacted by this rule.)
#A player is anyone who has posted in this thread with demonstrated intent to join the game.
#An active player is any player who has within 48 hours of the the time of determination posted with intent to either join or maintain involvement in the game.
#Any player may make a proposal to add rules.
#A player may abstain from voting on a proposal.
#An active player who has not abstained from voting on a proposal is for the purposes of that proposal considered a "voting player".
#A proposal shall be enacted upon the approval of more than half of its voting players.
#<s>If a rule gets deleted for any reason, the ordinals of all subsequent rules are to be decreased by 1.</s>
#If 72 hours pass without anybody posting on the thread, the last poster of the thread wins, marking Game Over, and is able to start a Nomic sequel.
#The person who makes a proposal is assumed to agree with it, unless they state otherwise.
#<s>Proposals proposed after the enactment of this rule shall be numbered in order of proposal. (This numbering is separate from the numbering of rules.)</s>
#In the event that a proposal proposed after the enactment of this rule proposes multiple rules, they must be numbered / lettered starting with a.
#Upon the passage of a proposal, any reference to its proposed rules shall be replaced with a reference to the corresponding rule.
#<s>If the proposal which passed this rule was not passed within 48 hours of its initial proposal, all rules passed by it are null and void.</s>
#In the event that a proposal is not passed within 48 hours of its initial proposal, it is null and void.
#<s>If the proposal which passed this rule was not passed within 48 hours of its initial proposal, all rules passed by it are null and void.</s>
#Once a player has given an explicit vote on a proposal, they are considered a voting player for it even if they cease to be an active player.
#<s>If the proposal which passed this rule was not passed within 48 hours of its initial proposal, all rules passed by it are null and void.</s>
#If a player votes on a proposal, then posts a different vote for that same proposal, they are assumed to have changed their vote, and their last vote becomes void.
#In addition to proposals to add rules, any player may make a proposal to amend or remove rules, or any combination thereof.
#No proposal shall be accepted with only one vote to accept it, irrespective of whether that vote is explicit or implicit.
#No rule may apply retroactively. That is, all rules shall come into force at the moment of their acceptance, and cannot be applied to a time before that. This is the case even if a rule explicitly states that it applies retroactively.
#After a Game Over, <s>players</s> people may not post on the game, unless explicitly stated in other rules.
#If no Nomic game is active, <s>players</s> people may propose to null a Game Over, and vote on that proposal. If the proposal is accepted, this game continues as before.
#Rule 15 is void. Proposals shall henceforth be explicitly named upon declaration, and referred to using those names.
#There exists a gameboard consisting of 100 spaces, arranged in a 10x10 grid. Spaces are denoted by the letter of their row with A being the top and J being the bottom, followed by the number of the column with 1 at the left and 10 at the right. Each player occupies one space on the gameboard. If this proposal passes, set each player's location to space A1.
#If there are 3 or less voting players for a proposal, that proposal cannot be passed until the end of a 48 hour period following its proposal.
#If a proposal would be declared null and void as per rule 19 but has enough votes to pass, rule 19 does not apply.
#Rules which were affected by Rule 12 are hereby reinstated to the rule number which they previously occupied.
#The player who proposed a proposal is considered a voting player for it regardless of activity.
#Each player has a number of associated numerical values called "Stats".
#A stat known as "Points" is hereby defined for each player and set to an initial value of 0.
#No post qualifies as a post to join or maintain involvement in the game as per rule 5 unless that post contains a listing of the currently active players, and that list contains the player themself.
#All actions done in a post are required to happen when posted, unless stated otherwise by another rule.
#A player is defined to be someone who has posted in the thread, and has not explicitly asked to not be a player.
#On a given post, players may do any one of the actions listed in the OP, given that it is within the rules.
#<s>Proposals may also propose to add, modify, or delete actions.</s>
#Any player may declare a conditional action of the form "If <precondition> then <action>" or some reasonable equivalent thereof.
#The declaration of a conditional action is in itself a separate action.
#Upon the satisfaction of the precondition of a conditional action, that conditional action's action shall come into effect as an action by the same player who originally declared the conditional action.
#Proposals created after this rule's enactment may not amend rules.
#Let the following terms be defined as "directions" of the subcategory "cardinal directions":
#*"West" is defined as the direction of decreasing letter order on the board.
#*"East" is defined as the direction of increasing letter order on the board.
#*"North" is defined as the direction of decreasing number order on the board.
#*"South" is defined as the direction of increasing number order on the board.
#Two cardinal directions may be combined into a compound word to mean both directions in conjunction. This compound word is also a direction. (E.g. "southwest" == "south and west")
#Let movement be defined as an action.
#In using a movement action, a player must indicate a cardinal direction.
#Upon the use of a movement action, the player shall occupy the space 1 space from their prior space in the direction indicated.
#A player may not make use of a movement action more than once every 24 hours.
#If the set of active players has not changed since its last listing, a player may summarize the listing as unchanged. This shall be treated as fulfilling the requirement of rule 37.
#When doing an action involving your stats and position, your new stats and position must be recorded for your action to be counted as valid, if they change.

This game is a sequel to this game by Sea, which was in turn a sequel to [http://www.alternatehistory.com/discussion/showthread.php?t=320914"]the original game by Baconheimer. The first game spawned an impressively horrifying map, but that pales in comparison to the result of the second game. And so, in the spirit of those two games, the third one shall begin.

Unlike most map games, you can be as detailed or as vague as you wish, jsut list your nations(s) in bold and say a blurb or two about it(them). For reference or inspiration, refer to the old game. Because of this, turn limits will be 8 hours, but with no claim limits, so if you get the night slot for wherever you are, just reclaim and it'll be your turn soon. And 1 last thing, do try to keep it from going too ASB. Obviously some insanity is fine, but overt implausibility (Aliens, space magic, etc.) is a no.

For reference, the PoD of this game is 1400, though it can be as convergent or not convergent as you wish. Also, here is the old map, as of 20 October 2015:

Image

This game, to encourage added complexity and horror, we will be using a Q-BAM. Here is the starting map:

Image

I don't have access to an image editor at the moment, so someone else can take the first turn. :)

Atlantis keeps trying to flood itself. On every Atlantian map you will not find a coastline, it is a very contentious border.

Why was there a link to an old Nomic game in the clipboard?
