[@|Asriel] an autoglass repair shop, asking if we had any damaged auto glass we'd like a free quote on
[@|Asriel] I wondered if that was a variant on "is your refrigerator running"
[@|Asriel] if I had broken glass, I'd do something about it
[@Mono] lol
[@|Asriel] not sit around hoping someone will call me up
[@|Asriel] 911 doesnt call you up randomly "We were wondering if anybody happens to be dying, traped, giving birth, or breaking into your home at the moment"
[@|Asriel] "I'm so glad you called, there's a guy holding a gun to my face"
[@Mono] rofl

When Goodnight tried to pay for two bottles of Sprite with a $5 bill he was assaulted by the store clerk. Investigators said the clerk, 20-year-old Ricky Young told them he thought Goodnight was being rude by not talking to him and hit him in the head with a crowbar.

Wow, that was from last night. I don't remember copying it.

There's a strange thrill with pressing that button, because you're not sure sometimes of the last thing you pasted.

It's actually a common rule of the action genre (originally it applied only to ninjas but I think it's adaptable in this case): the more enemies there are, the more horrible their aim/skill at dispatching the hero. This is why he will blow through scads of supposedly highly trained opponents as long as there are tons of them, but take twenty minutes of screentime to kill the guy at the end.

Also, Valor, Meneu and Caselles (2001) propose that heat requirement is not linear with temperature, which means that difference in heating that is needed from 17 to 18 degrees Celsius is not the same as the difference in heating needed from 1 to 2 degrees, for example.

How boring.

In that segment of society, it seems that the term [nerd] originally referred to the socially inept loser, and is now moving toward meaning a person in a knowledge-based culture.

belief in the traditional doctrines of a religion

From the definition of "faith" by Merriam-Webster, as I was trying to convince someone that belief in the scientific method is not a religion.

Hey everyone,

Sorry if this is a duplicate message - Hermes is being odd and I can't tell whether my previous attempt got through or not, so I'm assuming it didn't. If it did, ignore this message. It's essentially the same as the other one.

It's taken a while to get emails sorted, so this is pretty damn late notice. I apologise, but it's only partially my fault (and I have been ill recently, so I'm hoping I can be excused some of that as well). Anyway, we'd like to get you all together in the bar tonight at about 7:30, to sort out training and so on for this term. If that's not OK, please reply asap.

If you can't make it (or don't get this email in time), don't worry, I'll send out another email tonight with more details. It's just nicer to sort things out when everyone's in the same room, rather than over cold, impersonal emails.

Hope to see you there.

The following is not Christian-bashing, okay? I'm just sharing a personal experience.

Ah, right. Something I cut out of a religion discussion when I concluded that it didn't look much like Christian-bashing after all.

The stink of sweat and blood mixed with the smell of human fear as the lizard took its last moments trying to make James take his own.

*Snap!*

Saurian jaws clenched down on his rifle, marring the heat guard and cracking it in one place. The fetid breath of a predator forced its way into James's lungs, choking him; he felt saliva and perhaps the remnants of the lizard's last supper spatter across his face. Yet an optimistic part of his brain was telling him, even as the rest of him was screaming in terror, that the lizard was getting weaker.

Then the lizard lunged forward again, and only the barrier of his rifle prevented yellow teeth from sinking into soft human flesh. Serves him right for being optimistic.

The thumping of approaching feet stopped at his side, and through is peripheral vision he saw a human figure--David, he thought--plunge a knife into the reptile's side. With a feral roar, the creature entered its death throes, and James's efforts reversed; he now had to keep a firm grip on his rifle and prevent the lizard from ripping it away from him, instead of pushing it into the creature to keep it away. Fortunately, the struggle was relatively short, the lizard thrashing about and yanking on his rifle with rapidly decreasing effectiveness.

Finally, the struggles turn to twitches, and the lizard at last falls limp on James's blood-soaked form. Trying to slow his breathing and calm himself down--god, his hands were shaking, that thing was trying to eat him--James turned to David, his rifle still held in the lizard's mouth in a blatant display of paranoia.

"Thanks for the help," he manages to say, his voice shaky and weak, the dead weight putting a crushing pressure on his chest. "Do you want to help get this thing off me?" He asks, straining against the weight of the lizard.
